Yes with a wire whisk. After you do the initial mixing let the batter rest for about 15 minutes and then mix it again, that allows the dry ingredients absorb the moisture thoroughly

Actually it's called a whisk. Or wire whisk, but they're not all wire, any more. Yes, you can. But you'll have to scrape the bowl more. And if you see any unmixed dry ingredients/unmixed cake mix, do some more mixing. But
it beats having to lift heavy mixers, or having to clean up any messes made by the mixer, when it's on too high a speed.

I make all of my cupcakes, cake mixes and even brownies with a wire whisk instead of an electric mixer. I find it puts more air into the mix and the cakes rise better.

You can mix it with a spoon or possibly a wire whisk (at least until the batter is too thick to whisk). You'll need to mix for longer than the recipe indicates, if it's calling for an electric mixer.

Yes, I used to use an electric mixer. Faster and easier on my hand. But lots of cleaning!

Now, I used only the wire mixer. A little tiring but easy on cleaning up ^_^

Yes You can. Your talking to a Teen Pro you loves to Bake and Cook in the kitchen. I make Cakes and Cupcakes all the time. You can use a "Whisk" or just a Spoon but apply some elbow grease when using the whisk. I suggest you use a spoon because, using the whisk is gonna take a pretty good while when stirring all the ingredients

Well thats how my mother did it before there was a electric mixer.I use to watch her use the wire whisk and wonder how she could go so fast lol.Now sometimes I use it instead of the mixer like for instant puddings and eggs.I also think I can match her speed.

I think this depends on what you are going to use the frosting for. My guess is that, by saying frosting, you are talking about buttercream or some other cake frosting, so I will run with that. Honestly, you can, but it won't be quite the same. Here's why: Frosting is dependent on how well you can get the fat molecues filled with sugar and air. To achieve this, you need to whip the frosting very, very rapidly. Mixing frosting by hand will result in a less fluffy frosting that may or may not seperate on you. Okay - that said!!! Another possibility is making a glaze or royal icing. If you post more details, I will try to help you out.

Do yourself a favor and invest in non electric appliances. Mixers have thier place, but cupcakes are easy without electricity. And the word you looking for? We call it an egg beater.

Use a wisk, wooden spoon or tablespoon. Unless you are baking it from scratch, any of the above are fine. Now if you are making it from scratch, I would recommend an electric mixer. Even if it's just a hand held one. You can get a cheap one from the market or WalMart for $10.
