I had a mild case on my belt line on my back, no bigger than 2 silver dollars, but felt like I was being stabbed over and over again...(I can't imagine what severe cases must be like). Then along with the rash comes the terrible no energy flu-like feeling. Ever since I had them I try not to worry and be as anxious with life as before because I do not want to go through that again. I'm only 29, so the Dr. said it's my nerves that did it. Anyone care to talk about their episode with them? By the way...I went on Valtrex to help with mine...along with home remedies such as dabbing with vinegar...green tea...etc.

I BELIEVE (from my own experience):

Shingles if caught in it's beginning stages can be treated with antibiotics to help minimize your discomfort. There is NO cure but to let time take it's course.

I've been through it and felt the same way you do. It was murder. To this day (2 years later) I still have some scarring.

Stress was the cause for my outbreak.

DON'T WORRY: It'll get better. Usually 6 weeks to 2 months.

Hang in there... I feel your pain!!

CREAM INFO:

The best treatment for the pain after the rash is gone is a cream called Zostrix. This cream can be bought from your pharmacy without a prescription. To use Zostrix Cream one must apply it five-six times a day. It will take two to three weeks of use before the cream will start to work. This takes tremendous patience. If you persist though, the benefit of reduced pain will pay off.

My brother had shingles on his arm when he was going through chemotherapy.
His entire arm was in pain and we didn't know what to do...
My parents spoke to a family friend (we are chinese) and they suggested accupuncture for Shingles - it's very common.
An accupuncturist came to the hospital and he pricked my brothers finger/thumb? and drew blood. He asked my brother how much he felt better, by what percentage, and my brother said 20%.
They did this a few more times until my brother got to 65%.
The accupuncturist left it at that and came back a couple days later to finish the job. The nurses were floored, and the doctors didn't really react, they were concerned that the needles may not be clean.
Anyhow, my brother healed very well afterwards and didn't have to take medication anymore, which was great because he was taking some 10-15 pills per day at the time.
I don't necessarily recommend accupuncture for everything, but anything to do with nerves I've heard it is very effective.
Good luck!

OMG, it was HORRIBLE!! The irony is that when I had the chicken pox, I had like one little sore on my leg. Shingles, which is the same virus lying dormant in our body, attacks the NERVES which is why the pain is so bad.

I got shingles from having my immune system depressed very badly. I was breaking down, physically AND emotionally, when they hit me. Unbelievable pain, and very fast. Mine also were along the belt line, which made clothes a real problem. The Valtrex stopped them in their tracks, hallelujah. I only have 3 little scars.

I don't spend too much time worrying about them coming back. If they do, I'll cope with it, only THIS time I'll know what they are, and take quicker action. I had a friend who got them on her face, and it affected her vision, and alot of her nose is just GONE. Seriously.

So just be glad you got over them, and try not to worry about them returning. THAT is stressful.

I've had shingles now for about 16days and it
started with skin sensitivity and ended up with 5
blisters on the right side of my chest and one on
my back. They are healing now and yes have had
shooting pain in various areas where the blisters
are. I am only using ben-gay cream for the nerve
pain and it helps and I put aloe-vera liquid from the
plant we have on the blisters and they are drying.
I did not go to the doctor as I hate going there.
The pain does get intense at times but I bear it
and put ice rags on the pained area also and that
helps. I just have to bear it out for the process to
be complete and hopefully all of my pain will go
away: Fortunately my wife and her mother know a
lot of home remedies to ease the pain and to dry
the blisters to leave little scaring: I live in Panama
so we have access to various plant medicines that
we grow normally here in the country like atmos-
phere. Hope you fully recover. Hopefully I won't
be getting it anyway soon once I recover.

I got clinically diagnosed with the herpes simplex virus (type 2) about six years ago, when I was still attending college and had a stupid one-night stand. I just made a massive mistake that one time and suddenly I felt like I was going to have to live with the consequences for the rest of my life. The worst part was feeling I could never date guys again. In the end, who wants to go out with someone that has sores around her you-know-what? But since a friend shared this video everything changed https://tr.im/herpesCure2o15HB7g

Not only was I able to clear away all traces of the hsv from my body in less than 21 days, but I was also able to begin dating once more. I even met the man of my dreams. This method provided me the opportunity to be happy and experience real love. Now I want to enable you too by sharing this with the whole World.

I had shingles, also. Right on my bra line argh! Not only did it hurt like none other, but I'm a welder's apprentice, and it was summer! So hot and hurting! I have a nice scar now that keeps me from wearing my favorite bikini tops, but i'll tell you what, after going through child labor AND shingles, I'd rather do labor again.
