I have bumps all over my body and sometimes they are itchy. Dertmatologists aren't too sure what they are and I've tried different perscription and over the counter products for acne, scabies, staph infections, etc... I tend to use a lot of Tide (2-3 caps full ) and I don't think it rinses out well becaue I think that the more you use, the cleaner your clothes get. Could this be causing my skin problem? And, I'm also a otherwise very healthy and hygenic person so I'm very frustrated! Any suggestions?

Using more soap does not get your clothes cleaner, but it can cause the washer to not be able to rinse it out. This might cause your skin problem, especially if you are allergic to any of the chemicals in Tide. The excess soap in your clothes might cause your skin to react similar to how it would react if you used a lot of soap in the shower, but did not wash it off.

To get your clothes cleaner, do not over-stuff the washer. Also, follow the directions on the bottle/box of laundry soap you use. The company has already figured out the optimum amount of soap to use for the amount of clothes you are washer, which is why the cap/scoop has lines for measuring and a soap vs. amount of clothing guide on the package.

You may also want to try using different brands in case you also have allergies to the chemicals used (check the packaging-most companies that make laundry soap will advertize that they do not cause allergies if they have removed/not used the chemicals that usually cause allergy reactions, hence Allergy-free or Allergen-free on the label).

If your clothes SMELL clean coming out of the washer, they probably ARE clean. If they smell like body oder, wash them again-don't overdo the soap on one washing.

Some people have sensitive skin. I do, and I generally find that I have to use fragrance-free products, or I break out all over the place.

The best thing to do is to start using detergents like All Free Clear, or other detergents that are no fragrance added. I think you'll find a noticeable improvement if you do...

It can. Also, you could be having an allergic reaction to the current detergent that you are using. First try to use only 1 capfull of detergent. If that doesnt help, try switching to another brand that is milder, like Cheer.

There has been some recent reports of the new additive in the California water. "Chloramine"I think. It has replaced chlorine. I have the article at work and I will try to post under "comments" tomorrow. The problem is that some people are reacting with the same or similar symptoms. There have been warnings that it can make some smaller pets "schizophrenic". I know that it killed a collection of small Koi that my co-workers had in a tank at work. It is in our drinking water , we wash our clothes in it and we bathe in it. The article said that the chemicals have been "assumed" harmless with no laboratory tests ever held. Try contacting your local Assembly person/Representative local politician or newspaper to get the exact story. This is a real social phenomena ! (yes, you are using to much detergent. (Try using "Shout" or Spray & Wash on those extra dirty areas. Use a second rinse cycle on your washer. )

Yes!!! If you want to be extra sanitary use d-tergent with bleach in it or add all fabric bleach.Only use one cap of each! This larger amount (that you've been using) will not rinse and and will burn your skin. You can put vinegar in the final rinse of anything to help get the soap out but this might hurt the smell.Like one and a half cups for a normal load.

First of all do not use but "1" capful per laundry load. No need in overusing it, and it will get your clothes clean. I use Tide also and think its the best on the market. They do make Tide for sensitive skin however. If this does not help, you may need to switch because you may be allergic to something in it..
