Hey guys,
You've probably heard of the 7 year itch in terms of careers... 7 years into your career and nothing happens anymore. I was wondering if the same happens with working out, because I think I'm experiencing it! It feels like nothing's happening to me, despite it being months since I started working out regularly... I spent 1.75 hours doing cardio and weightlifting, and crunches...

I really want to lose weight and gain muscle, especially around my lower stomach...

Oh by the way, I work out for 4 consecutive days, starting Monday.

Its very rarely that I break this schedule.

You should change around your routine, there are around 640 named muscles in the human body - in addition to thousands of smaller (un-named) muscles.

Go crazy and change it up a little bit, there are hundreds of different workouts that you can do, if you have any questions about them let me know I would be happy to tell you a few change ups!

I would stick with the 6 core workout work group

chest , arms , shoulders , legs , core , back

Tons of different exercises in these groups mix it up a little bit, find out different ways to work those muscles, google search it if you want!

If you are mainly worried about the lower stomach the best thing you can do is push ups, sit ups crunches, pull ups, scissor kicks, pelvic tilts, lifted-leg push-up and those types of things, you can use a ball for crunches there the best! Along with working those muscles cardio is the best thing for weight loss between 45-60 mins! try keeping your rpm between 70-90 if possible.

You are also going to need to figure out your THR (Target Heart Rate) BMI (Body Mass Index) BF% (Body Fat Percentage) Caloric Needs and Ideal Weight. I would highly suggest getting a blood test, physical health test and a good old check up with your doctor! There are about 15 standard blood tests that you can do, Thyroid and Testosterone are big ones that you might want to get done, you can also find out what you might be low on as far as minerals and daily supplements!

You need to be working out 2-3 hours 5 days a week to see faster paced results that you want!

Yet the very most important part to proper weight loss and muscle gain is DIET! Yes!! High Protein, Low-Carb, "No" Sugar.

6 smaller meals a day 3 hours apart will increase your metabolism and blood flow in the body along with many other things! Do not starve the body! it will feel like you are actually eating more then you thought! I take in about 2,500-2,700 calories per day. Get your caloric intake needs and stick to that for 2-3 weeks then cut your daily calories by say 400-500 you will see faster results!

Any sugar intake that you do have on a daily basis you want it to be a natural sugar! Like fruits they have natural sugars! Stay far away from sugar as possible!

You are going to want to intake about 1.0g protein per target body weight. 1.0gx180=180g/per day

Stick with lean meats, fish, turkey, chicken etc. (No pork or beef)

Eat cottage cheese until you throw up! lol

No Carbs 6 hours before bedtime!

White flour is BAD! Whole wheat only!

There is a lot of information that I left out, I can give you my diet and workout routine if you want, if you have any questions about work out routines, dieting, supplements or anything at all send me a message I will be happy to help you out!

You can easily loose 5-6 pounds a week if not more!

p.s. health food store is a great place to find most of the things you want, I also suggest a book called Contemporary Nutrition!

No, but any 7-year itch type thing in any area of life just means that you need to make a change. Mix up your workout a bit. Keep the days the same if you need to, but do some different activities for exercise.

Sometimes exercise is not enough to get the body that you want. Maybe you should try some changes in your diet along with exercise that you are already doing. Your diet could be the reason why the exercises don't seem to be working. Most people with great figures eat very healthy and exercise. I which you Good Luck!

I agree that there is a sort of "itch" when you get stuck in a regular routine. Mix it up a bit! It can be a daunting thing, especially when you've chosen the workout you like and you're used to it. But the more varied you are with your workout, the more rewarding it will be...and the less bored YOU will be!

Good luck!

There is no 6.5 or 7.3 year itch but what you are saying is correct. You need to completely change your routines from time to time. It is like your muscles get bored of the same exercise. So change it up. You can even change angles of the same exercises. See Hindu squats and pushups under EXERCISE on site below. Improve your diet.
