Just run. I do treadmill work on every exercise day and I routinely burn 400 calories almost every time. And I don't think you have to run for an hour to do it. Granted I'm going by what the meter on the treadmill reads, which is calculating my body weight, how long I run and at what speed, and figuring out how many calories I'm losing. But I think it's pretty accurate. I usualy run between 5 and 6 mph for 30 mins one day, 60 the next and then move outdoors on the last day of the week. If you run at least 5 mph you should hit well over 400 calories burned in an hour.

If you're a beginning runner, you need to start slow. Maybe 5 minutes of walking, followed by 3 minutes of running for a total of about 30 minutes for a week. then you slowly increase the running time, while decreasing the walking time. Go to the Nike website. They have a great beginning running plan there. I used it and now I can run a 5k (when I first started, I could only run about five minutes at a time... now i do an hour straight).

Most tread mill should be equipped with at least a chart for average calorie burn.

The newer once have continuous read out for total calorie count. The more sophisticated meters actually take in to considerations every aspects(Wt., Speed of ruining, heart rates..) and give a very accurate real time count.

I burn 500 calories in 60 minutes on a T mill.

I start on zero incline and walk for 10 minutes at a speed of 3.5

Then, 10 degree incline for 10 minutes at 3.0 speed.

back to zero incline for 10 minutes at 3.5 speed.

Keep repeating this sequence and you'll burn 500 calories in 60 minutes.

Elevation of 2 and do 7 MPH. That will get you over 400 calories. I usually get 200 calories done in about 20 minutes

set the speed of the treadmill up so you would think you would have to jog to keep up, but instead walk it out. It will be longer strides and faster strides, but don't allow yourself to jog. You will burn many more calories this way. I have tried it after reading it in a body building magazine.

simple interval running, both slower and fast and flat and uphill.

So start with 2 minutes easy jog then 2 minutes run repeat lots and then vary it with 2 minute jog flat 2 minutes jog hill. Best way for getting fit fast and burning calories! Trust me I have a PT and she is very good and I am super fit!

simple... use the treadmill's setting to a high speed, and set it for a fairly steep incline. I think most modern threadmills should let you do this with a fair amount of ease.
