Gospel music is written by humans, it may not have a message from God. The bible is Gods word. Gospel music should be glorifying God, but at least biblical.

The message behind Gospel music is the same as the message that is taught in the Bible- the love and holiness of God.

Remember that its mans doing; be very careful to think that there is any message from God in them. I've heard gospel songs praising the fact that people will be raptured;
its not scriptural, and certainly not of God.
Nothing ever suggests (even in the original manuscripts themselves) that any portion of the population will be taken away; it may be of Satan, it may be of man, who knows?
But its not of God, and I am quite sure God doesn't appreciate people singing praises to it. Its a disgrace.
Just because something says "God" in it, doesn't necessarily mean it is of God.

The Gospel.

1 Cor. 15:1-4
I declare to you the gospel which I preached to you, which also you received and in which you stand, by which also you are saved, if you hold fast that word which I preached to you--unless you believed in vain. For I delivered to you first of all that which I also received: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, and that He was buried, and that He rose again the third day according to the Scriptures.

In the bible, the Lord Says:

"Praise the Lord with stringed instruments, praise the lord with cymbals, praise the Lord with Dumbs and Harps." (excuse the paraphrase as I do not have a bible with me)

It also says to Clap your hands for the lord, and to dance for him like David did in the old testiment.....

Gospel Music is a great way to praise the Lord, often, he will speak to your heart while you are singing.

You don't even have to be "religious" to enjoy good gospel music.

It depends on the song.... Most songs' purpose is to uplift, but every song has its own message.
