Yes it can reduce cholesterol it has none in it and it's better for you than if you ate cereal with sugars and everything. Instant oatmeal helps clean out your system and lowering your cholseterol.

i'm not sure about instant oatmeal..due to all the sugar

but the regular oatmeal has soluble fiber which may reduce bad cholesterol

Its better than a kick in the pants. However the steel-cut long cooking oatmeal is much better for you. What I do is make about 16 servings at once and store them in the freezer. I can microwave the individual packets in a jiffy. By the way, World Market carries it.

it can but it really depends on your overall fiber intake which should be 30 grams daily. instant oatmeal does not contain as much fiber as whole oats so whole oats are less processed and a superior food choice.
