Give it 24 hours. Drink plenty of fluids. If you experience dramatic symptoms, such as vomiting, sharp pains or high fever, lasting more than 24 hours, go the the emergency room immediately. It could be something more serious.

If you're experiencing nausea or diarrhea, push fluids as best you can to keep yourself hydrated. This is the first thing you need to monitor, as this is the first danger in a bout of food poisoning. If you are throwing up continuously for more than 12 hours, it's time to head to the ER. You also need to monitor your temperature. A fever of 103 or more also means a trip to the ER for medical intervention. Finally, if stomach pain becomes truly unbearable you should get yourself checked out, as it could be a sign of something more serious like appendicitis or other internal infection. Otherwise, if it's tolerable and you're able to keep liquids and light colored foods (crackers/toast) down, and you're not running an outrageous fever, stay put, watch tv and soldier through it. You'll be fine in a day.

Sit on the toliet, have a barf bucket in front of you and get comfy-you will be there for a long time. If you have it, you'll know it...everything that you ate for your whole life will be coming out!

Vikki, go throw up if you feel that bad. I think you are overreacting a little. Blame the lunch ladies. They are after you!

Stay close to your barf bucket. You only have about one second's warning.
