We are having a casual birthday party for our daughter - lots of friends with babies - so we have abt 40 people invites, parents and kids inclusive. THere will be a maze for toddlers and kids, an open area for younger babies to crawl, play etc -
any ideas on some fun entertaining stuff for parents there to make them be involved in a good time too? or any other nice ideas for a birthday =)

You have some great ideas for the kids. However, as for the parents, perhaps, they shouldn't be involved in games. Because they should be watching over their kids.

Don't forget to get balloons for the kids - they just love it!

One advise reading from a web site a while ago, DON'T hire a clown for the 1st birthday. Babis are afraid of them.

I do not recommend a clown, most kids are afraid of them.
For the parents entertainment:
- bob for nipples-fill 3 buckets of water and put a bunch of baby bottle nipples in them and set up 3teams and have them race to see who can bob for the most nipples.
-baby bottle drinking game - fill the baby bottles with anything -milk, beer, water...whatever - and have the parents race to see who can finish the baby bottle first.
-relay race-line the children up on one side of the room and see which parent can bribe the child to cross the line on the other side of the room. break it up with crawlers, recent walkers, and the big kids.
-t-shirt painting-set up a table where parents and child can go and paint with their hand prints or foot prints. this could be a good favor that they can use as a smock in the future. you can always write your child's name on it or happy birthday!!
-best favor ever, especially at this age is a personal CD of your child's favorite songs. You can burn the CD yourself and make the cover with your child's pictures and list of songs on the CD. My friend did this 5 years ago and we still all have and listen to the songs.
Good luck.

ewww you should do a diaper change race everybody that has a baby that is still in diapers lay them on the floor at the same time and change there diaper weather they need it or not and the first person that gets there baby back in diapers and dressed wins.

this is great because some of the children will try to crawl away and what not it is soooo funny.

I had my kids birthday at our village park so the kids could swing and slide and stuff. We grilled hot dogs and hamburgers, had potato salad, and a veggie tray and I made treat bags for all the kids. It was really fun for everybody. It was basically just a big get together with presents at the end. It turned out really nice.

The ideas you have sound great. I think that the family and friends will enjoy themselves just watching the young ones and having some good adult conversation.
