I am a dog person, but I also love cats. I believe what makes them cute is:

1. LOL...They have hypnotic eyes, HypNotik…, My X-wife hated them for that as she thought they could look into your soul and read out your thoughts.

2. They are a mini image of bigger felines, tigers, leopards, panthers, etc., which not everyone can have as a pet. If we can’t harness the real power, a small likeness of it may satisfy us.

3. They are curious; a quality we share with them.

4. They are elegantly designed; they come in different shapes and colors, hairy, fluffy, or not hairy at all, striped, spotted or just plain; a big variety which is lacking amongst bigger felines.

5. They can walk on a table covered with china and glasses, but they elegantly go through this jungle rarely knocking down one single piece. And they are master acrobatics.

5. They are so intimate; they can't get fed up with being cuddled and patted and bonding.

6. They are smart, cunning though, but I do not take it against them.

7. I can't stop loving them when they are kitten. Mine used to sleep on my chest when I am sleep, listening to my heart beats, purring, and I wake up in the morning...she is so intimately licking my face. What a nice feeling to start my day!

8. Purring is a sign of being happy and content that creates a mutual bond. definately we become happy when we know that we made someone happy, too.

9. The only animal that is said to have 9 souls; an expression that says it all.

10. They are so cute when chasing a dummy-rat figure, a yarn thread, a ball, even when they hunt; they are so playful with the prey unlike the bigger felines who go directly for the kill.

11. They are easier to handle and less costly as pets compared to bigger ones like dogs. This may be not related to cuteness, but to preference.

The above is some, but not necessarily everything to say about what makes cats cute.

Several things: A) the fact that cats are smaller, mostly docile, and largely domesticated makes them an obvious choice as a housemate. B) Proportionally, Cats have the largest eyes of any other creature, and humans do so love eye contact. Add that to the fact that Cats have an identical makeup for emotional brain activity, and you're just barely scratching the surface of why so many people love 'em. You could also cite the relation to exotic animals, such as the lion or tiger, with owning a cat giving some small sense of taming the animal world.

While I have had dogs and cats, I have found that cats are much more aware of what is going on around them. My cats come to me when I am sad or stressed and let me pet and cuddle with them. Also, they are mostly independent and really only require that I feed them and keep their box clean. I find that they are much cleaner than dogs and I just love the feeling of taking a nap with my kitties sleeping on my chest and feet...keeping me warm. I love the intense personalities that most cats have and think they are just beautiful. I love my kitties! They are like my children.

i love cats soo much, my cat has a very interesting personality. the fact the that you don't have to let a cat outside and a cat cleans itself. Cats just do what they want and a dog is trained and does what you say. Cats are just so love able

I think it's a combination of physical characteristics and personality quirks.

Cats are among nature's most graceful, beautiful creatures. They are strong and lithe and have appealing features, like their perky pointed ears and wide, bright, colorful eyes. (Compare the range of colors that cats' eyes come in to those of other domestic animals-- cats can range from blue to green to orange to golden, with shades of variations within those colors). They're small enough to not make you feel threatened, unlike some dogs; and a domestic cat will rarely, if ever, behave aggressively towards humans unless it is cornered.

They have fur coats that are soft and strokable and come in an absolutely astounding range of colors and patterns. And most of them love to have us touch them and pet them and enjoy the feel of the soft fur!

And they are so responsive to people: they will purr and curl up on your lap, rub their faces up against you, fall on their backs and roll over to entice you to rub their furry soft bellies. They'll talk to you in their funny voices-- some squeaky and high-pitched, some low and hoarse, some almost musical. They trill, they croon, they howl, they scream, they purr, they have a huge assortment of vocalizations.

And they love to play-- to dance with moonbeams or sunbeams, chase the point of a laser light, stalk falling leaves or other cats. They can run so fast it's amazing and jump as high as 6 or 7 feet when they need to. And they can lie still, waiting, for hours at a time if they're stalking something.

Yes they do have aggravating habits, like clawing furniture and regurgitating hairballs. But that's a small price to pay, IMO, for all the great things cats bring. I cannot imagine life without all my tender furry wraiths that bring me so much joy. Cats are among the most awesome creatures in creation. Cats rule! ;-))

Their personalities. Each cat has their own personality, no two are alike. Plus they are fuzzy and loving, even when they are being bad and mean, they are still cute.

Their attitudes. Dogs just don't have the attitude that cats have. There's nothing sweeter than when a cat jumps up on your lap and purrs at you.
