The stomach muscles are the only group of body parts you can safely work out on every day of the week. If you did 100 a day or in one sitting you should be good to go by summer.

Crunches alone do not give u a flat stomach- Do Cardio and watch what you eat! Unfortunately many people think they can eat whatever they want and get a flat stomach by performing 250 crunches per day to burn off the extra fat and calories. That's probably the biggest myth around.
You need to understand that your stomach will never be flat until you lose weight in all areas. Maintaining a toned middle means developing good eating habits for life, stop crash dieting, exercise regularly and have tons of patience. Crunches alone will never get the job done

I would actually look into getting some Pilates DVDs. Crunches are great and everything, but Pilates really makes your tummy very defined and it's also good excercise overall.
But if you really want to stick to basic crunches, you're going to have to do upwards of 100/day. And you're going to have to mix it up a little. Take a look at this Web site:
http://exercise.about.com/od/abs/ss/abexercises.htm
That should give you a nice variety.
But seriously, pilates is awesome for a flat tunny :)

It's not muscles that make your stomach stick out, it's the fat on top of them. You can do a million situps and have rock hard abdominal muscles. But if they're covered up by Big Mac fat, you won't ever see them. Diet and exercise is the key. Cutting out the carbs and fat AND doing the crunches is the key.

That depends on your body type. Crunches will give you defined abs, but if you have a lot of fat around your stomach, you'll just develop the muscles underneath the fat. You should do some aerobics and cardio, too.

The following will give you a flat stomache, as bread, and too much alchohol gives you a puffy stomache.
You can loose a kilo a week easy without exercise with the following, and reduces hunger pangs, and brings you back to a normal weight, while focusing on low GI.
> Plenty of water, no sugar, no white bread.
> Breakfast : banana, skim milk, qtr tsp honey milk shake
Coffee (no sugar)
> Mid Morning : Small mixture of nuts, saltanas, carrots sticks
> Lunch : Mixed salad, lettuce, olives, cucumber, cheese, smoked salmon or chicken pieces
> Afternoon : Apple, rest of nuts, cup of tea (no sugar)
> While making dinner : Small amount of cheese, olives, 5 rice crackers, 1 small glass of wine
> Dinner : Steak, Chicken or fish, small amount of sweet potato, OR corn, OR pumpkin, green vegetables, some carrot
> Dessert : 2 spoonpulls of tinned fruit, and small yogurt
The secret :
= Snack on small cheese, and small crackers, makes dinner feel fulle rin your tummy. You will sleep better too.
= STAY AWAY from sugar, morning cereals, white bread, white rice, white potato, cookies, cakes, icecream, lollies
= Stay busy, and snack on apple, nuts, 2 coffees in the morning, and a tea at night keeps away hunger pangs.
= the banana gives you energy, and goodness in the mornng, while the coffee wakes you up, and kick starts metab.
I feel more energy than I have ever felt before, have a post baby body at 76 kgs, and went down to 67 kgs in 2 months, and have kept it off for 2 years. Bread now gives me a headache, so I limit it to 1 slice fo toast every 2nd morn, or a salad sandwhich 2 times a week, or icecream and wafers every sat night.
The key is staying away from wheat, and sugar, and white potato.
if you can do this, you will not believe the change in your personality, sex life, skin tone, size, positive attitude, brain power, energy, and the length of your life.
After the first week - it is so damn easy. I have never looked back - only to take my larger clothes to St Vinnies op shop.
You know you can do it.
If you get time to go walking in the mornng or afternoon, then that will speed up the process by 20 %

A heavyweight champ, George Forman does not start counting until it burns. So do it until it burns and then do some more. In bodybuilding, failure is good. You lift a weigh until failure. Even better are Hindu squats and pushups. The latter helps abs but you can still do crunches with them. These willl help you lose weight sice they are resistance training and cardio, both. See site below under exercise.

Start off slow, like with 25 or 30. Do them every other day. Increase each time by 5 until you get sore, then increase only by 2. When you get to 100 or 150 per day you should reach your goal.
