I want a medium size dog, that doesnt require much grooming and loves kids. (I love the looks of German Shepherd so anything similar to that, I've seen German Shepherd-beagle mixes and those are adorable!)

I went to petfinder.com and searched under "german shepherd" which also brings up mixes.

Also you can search size "medium" to get that size mix.

Lots of dogs including some beagle mixes.

I'm sure you can find a german shepherd mix that will melt your heart. Also if you adopt an adult dog then you will know exactly the size and temperament.

Good luck! :)

We have a Jack Russell Terrier and Border Collie mix he is a great dog. He has all of the energy of the terrier and all of the instinct and loyalty fo the collie. He's about halfway between both breeds in size (35 LBS) and coat length (Medium). It's the perfect apartment dog if you don't want a high energy toy sized dog. He definately acts like a larger dog, just in a smaller package. It's kind of like he'll stay border collie puppy sized forever!!! It's a great breed mix that is becoming fairly common these days - you can google the mix for pictures!!

My wife and I have had a Schnoodle for 3 years. "Maggie" is full grown and weighs 18 pounds. She is the perfect lap dog, and is wonderful around kids. The schnoodle is a mixed breed, very sturdy, very playful, intelligent and easy to train. I might also mention they don't shed, so they are good around people with allergies. I would highly recommend this dog, and in fact, we may get another shortly. Love em!!!

My dog is a doberman/husky mix. He's about 50 lbs (looks like a shepherd/dobie mix). Personally I think any mix is fine just depends on how you train them. He's a very smart personable dog but I think you kind of get that with any mixed breed.

I grew up with many dogs starting when i was about 7 years old. Our German Shepard, Black Labrador, and Golden Retriever were all good with my sister and I, and especially my brother who was very young with the dogs (my sister and I were are 10 and 12 years older than our brother). We also had a beagle who was very nasty, and a cockapoo who was skittish....she didn't like being played with, especially by my brother. But that could possibly be b/c she was older when we got her. All of our dogs have been from he SPCA. Have fun with your dog!

There are a lot of mixed breeds at the humane society, and usually mixed breeds are all good tempered, around kids and other dogs. You should check it out, not only will you find that cute little shephered mix, but your saving him too. so yeah, good luck!

I think golden retrievers are the best dogs to have with kids but they take a little grooming.

if you're going to get a mixed breed then get one from the pound, not a designer dog that is expensive and not any better than a rescued dog.
