how do u explain morals coming from god?

Question

today slavery is immoral. but many many years ago it was widely accepted practice.

we see cannibalism as an immoral practice, but u can see tribes in africa that practice this.

we say killing as a punishment is immoral, but even in the bible killing was very widely accepted form of punishment.

how can u say morality is from god and not from the self/society?

note: im talking about MORALS, not whether or not its a "sin" in your religion.

It's people as a society tyhat determines what is moral and what is not. If you bring up the Bible as an example, then we are all immoral. God wants perfection, and we aint it. So, repentance is for us, and the type of judgement that we are not to do is that type of judgement that exalts ourselves as being something better than another person is being.

Perhaps I am the most immoral Christian here?

I don't...Chippy, you are looking at societal norms of different times and different people, not morals from God.

To my thinking the only morals that God gives us are about what we do and how we should be. We are to love God above all other gods, we are to love each other with no exceptions, we are to forgive each other, we are not to sit in judgement of each other and we should treat others how we wish to be treated. People can practice these same morals even if they do not attribute them to God or religion.

There are God's laws and there are man's laws... those who are not of God's people are not bound by God's Laws... so they are free to get away with whatever they can under man's laws.
