I've noticed that when someone mentions a belief in "spirits", many people, especially those who subscribe to a religion, answer that the spirits in question are "demons".

Why is that?

If you believe in demons, then it stands to reason that you also believe in angels.

Why couldn't the "spirits" one sees simply be angels? Or simply spirits? Why must they be demons?

They aren't always demons. You would know a demon if you saw one. There are just spirits out there, dead people who are there to help us, or ghosts. I've seen them, I know they are real, and they aren't demons. I grew up in a haunted house, so I know they are real!! I do believe in angels too. I don't think they are winged figures who fly around and play harps. They do help us. They watch over us. I don't believe they interfere with life, but they will help us make choices. I do think that angels can appear to people, and we would know them for who they are. If you worry about whether an entity is an angel or a demon, ask them to shake hands with you, if they reach out to shake your hand, they are a demon. If they say they can't, they are from God. Demons try to deceive while angels try to guide.

According to Biblical scriptures, there are angels, demons, and God's Earthly creations. These are the living entities in the entire universe by Biblical standards.
Basically putting it, God creates all the angels of his heavenly domain. Later he creates all life on Earth, humans being last. The angel Satan convinces Adam and Eve to disobey God. This makes Satan the first of the demons because of his outright disobedience. Later he convinces a third of the angels to join him. These other angels are now the rest of the demons.
Now, if you read the scriptures carefully, you'll find out that when humans die, they do not go to some heavenly or hellish place. They are just dead....non-existent. They do not even know they are dead, and there only hope is the resurrection in the future. So who are spirit mediums that do seances contacting? They're contacting spirits, but not those that have died. They're contacting the rebel angels, who pose to be the dead loved ones in order to propogate the myth that those loved ones are still alive somewhere. These demons lie, give information about the future (divininity), which the Bible warns against, etc.
So as you can see, there is a difference between angels and demons. Angels help humanity using God's ways and approval. Demons pretend to help humanity, but with lies and deceit.

There are two different types of spirits. The good ones are God and his angels and the bad ones are Satan and his demons. If someone is seeing something evil than there are seeing something dealing with evil spirits (demons). If they see something on the more pleasant side then are dealing with good spirits (Angels), but you have to be careful and dont fall for a demon trying to pose as an angel or something good.

OK, here's the way it works.

There are two types of spirits. Good ones and evil ones. Good spirits do, on occasion, appear to people. But when they do, there is a very specific purpose to it that Glorifies God's will.

Most spirits are just here to cause havoc. The best way to tell the difference is to ask this question, "Is this spirit trying to bring me closer to Jesus Christ?" If the answer is no, then it is not a spirit sent by God and therefore is an evil spirit.

There are no neutral spirits for neutrality cannot exist in the spiritual realm.

I believe there are many entities, from extreme evil to extreme good. I am not referring to those spirits or souls that have left their corporeal bodies. I am talking about God/Gods/Goddesses/angels/demons whatever your culture or belief dictates. They are found in every writing available. I know that there is an outcry every time I write this, but it is true. If given the time to research, it can be found that it has been with us from the beginning. I have encountered both in my journey. They exist.

Namaste

Blessings

Peace and Love

A person doesn't SEE demons that i am aware of. You can see their manifestations but not them. It would also follow to tell whether a spirit is an angel or a demon would be determined BY their manifestations. I hope this makes some sort of sense. thanks

I find most people that subscribe to a religion are very narrow-minded.
I believe spirits are the souls of dead people, neither angels or demons.

spirit= spirit of God or angel or demon, according to the Bible.
Then again, in the Bible, the witch of Endor conjured up Samuel for King Saul...so maybe you have a point.

People tend to oversimplify because human beings are poorly equipped to discern which spirits are on whose side. So they make the safe assumption, that they are ALL evil, and should be avoided at all costs.

It also stands to reason - by your own logic above - that demons must exist if angels exist.
