I have a one year old (one on sunday) - walks wth holding on to things -

qn:
1.as a beginner, are the stride rite shoes worth it? tjheyre cute, but are they worth the value?

2. My other option is the pediped, robeez, them soft leather shoes. Pediped looks like she can wear them out, the rest look more indoor-ish is that true? DO you prefer one over the other, and are they good....or is the knockoffs at target the same thing ?

I can't comment on the Stride Rite brand since we have not tried them, but I love Robeez and Bobux for my 15 month old daughter. We have had many pairs, as there are so many cute designs to choose from. The only drawback I can think of for this style of shoe is that they aren't for outside play. On the plus side, they are very durable and my baby has never been able to pull them off. They are perfect for a baby who is learning to walk since they are completely flexible and soft.

I also love Pedipeds. They are good to stay on little feet and they have the added bonus of a slightly padded sole. They are made of nice leather and don't wear out easily. But, like Robeez and Bobux, they aren't really good for outside play. Pedipeds are absolutely adorable and look so cute on my baby's feet.

When my baby goes outside to play, she wears her Pedoodles. They have a very flexible rubber sole so she doesn't have any trouble walking in them and they are very tough, quality leather shoes.

I have tried cheap shoes from Payless and Target, but you definitely get what you pay for. It is hard to find a shoe with a flexible sole at places like this. Most of the shoes these stores carry are as stiff as a board. I wanted my daughter to have comfortable shoes that didn't hinder her ability to learn to walk. Don't listen to anyone who tells you that you are crazy for spending a lot on your child's shoes. I think quality shoes are very important for growing little feet and I have never regreted buying better shoes for my baby.

My son turned a year old on last Thursday. He just started walking last month. He has been wearing Stride Rite since birth. We [DH and I] got shoes as gifts for him, but he only wore the Stride Rites. I felt the other shoes [Nikes] were too bulky. If you buy one good pair of shoes you won't be spending a lot plus you have the added assurance that your child's feet are well protected. I haven't tried the other shoes you mentioned, but I've seen the Robeez and they look too soft for wearing outside.
I suggest going to the store for fitting or using Striderite dot com's e-fit. Then buy the shoes from zappos dot com. They offer price comparison and free shipping both ways for the month of March.

Good Luck!

Robeez=total waste of money. When a child is learning to walk the only 2 reasons why they need shoes are for protection and support and only when outside. Robeez do none of those and since parents unfortunately tend to put them on their children inside when they should have nothing on their feet they actually tend to hinder a child's ability to learn to walk. You can't go wrong with Stride Rites but you can certainly find shoes that provide good support and protection at a lesser cost....just make sure to have them fitted properly by someone who knows what they are doing.

I wasn't sure about the Robeez as they are kind of expensive, but I got a pair for a gift, put them on my one-year-old, and realized they are the only shoe he cannot take off!! Love them! (I haven't seen any knock-offs, but I am going to look at Target now that you mentioned it!) They are probably the same thing!

I had the same question and went with the Stride-Rite when my daughter was one because she was cruising and would take a step or 2 on her own. The flexible soles really moved with her feet, but were thick enough that I felt that the soles of her feet would be safe in them. They also fitted her properly, so she did get about 3-4 months of wear out of them.

I loved the Robeez for my girls. When they were babies they wore them out but after a year old just around the house. But they can be used for outdoor use. They worked great for us, they could wear socks inside and they then did not slip around on the floor, made it easier for them, and I also put my girls in shoes after they were beginning to walking.

A good sturdy pair of tennis shoes work wonders. Don't go spending a fortune on shoes they will outgrow them too fast. I always bought my kids shoes at Wal mart. They worked just as well as the high priced ones and I didn't feel guilty when they outgrew them before they wore them out. I'm mom to 3.

My daugher is 20 months and when she started walking I looked into the more expensive shoes, but I did end up getting her's at Target and Walmart. They grow out of them very fast and to me there is no point in spending a lot on shoes right now. They will not have time to wear them out right now. Her doctor said to let her go barefoot in the house it helps them to balance better, but outside to put shoes on. I would also make sure the shoes isnt too heavy one of my daughter's pair were too heavy and she hated them. I got her a little velcro pair that were light weight, but still supportive. She did fine and is now running and climbing on everything! Good luck and make sure and let your little one with you and try them on and let her walk in them and see if they seem too heavy.

on account which you probably did no longer provide a link, i pass to think of you advise socks and shoes commonly. Up till at the instant whilst she began to crawl around extra I hardly tried to place shoes on my daughter. She hates them and tries to tug them off, commonly having one off till now i'm able to even get the different on. For me, toddler shoes have been regularly a waste of money. My daughter would not like socks plenty extra perfect yet she tolerates them a splash extra, nevertheless I could be diligent and purchase socks she has a complicated time pulling off. The medical institution present save the place I introduced my daughter had those cute socks that looked like shoes. that they had shoes and Mary Jane varieties. They have been cute, nevertheless my daughter has long on account that out grown them. She has quite some socks with characters on them, Piglet, Pooh, animals, and so on.
