There is no specific age when the come into season and it usually happens at certain times of the year. Bitches are di-oestrus which means they come into season twice yearly (occasionally more often). I wouldn't worry to much for the time being as I expect she is due very soon. Look out for a swollen vulva, blood (not always noticeable) and she will probably clean herself more ofter down below. Take her to the vets 9weeks after her season to be spayed. (prevent pregnancy, womb infections and reduce the risk of mammary tumours in later life). If you have any worries it wont harm to see your vet it is possible she has had her season without you noticing.

well if your dog is only 14 months old it might not come into season for a couple more months, because i used 2 have a small dog and it started when it was 2 and a half years old! it did worry me so i'd go check with your vet just incase there is something wrong with it!

seasons vary tremendously and not having a season at 14 months is not that unusual. A female dog can first come into season any time from 6 months onwards, and it is not unheard of to not have a first season until well over the age of 2. If you are concerned at all, it may be advisable to speak to your veterinary surgeon as there are tests available to determine why she may not have come into season.

It is very normal. Some large dogs do not cycle until they are 2 years old. It is a little odd for a smaller dog, but not unheard of. She may also have had a silent heat, which is sometimes undetectable without a male dog living with you.

Sometimes you just cannot tell. If you adopted from a rescue group they might have had her spayed before you adopted her in which case she would not come into season. Check with your vet. If she has not been fixed you should get it done.

It's not normal, but does happen. Was this dog a rescue that possibly could have been fixed? If not, talk to a vet about what's going on and about getting her spayed. Good luck to you.

Sometimes when they come into season for the first time it can be 6 months, but can also be up to 18 mos. Spay her now before she comes into season!
