Yeah. There's a town called Lakewood in my homestate (New Jersey) that isn't even NEAR a lake or the woods. Weird stuff...

We have a Lakewood, Ohio here and it's next to the lake.
I think it's actually named after a person by that name but I'm not sure about that

Wishful thinking. Kind of like all the places here in Iowa with the name "Mount" like Mt. Vernon, Mt. Pleasant, Mt. Ayr.... its silly as all get out.
