As long as her body can handle it it's fine.

It sounds like your friend is on the verge of anorexia.
You should talk to her about it. Bring it up casually but make sure to get serious.
Eating this way will leave her with serious heart problems in the future, problems that will be irriversable.
A normal human girl who is active needs to eat at the very VERY least 1600 calories.
Any lower than that and she should slow down her activity level.
Exercising that much a day is only healthy when eating 1600 calories or more.
1600 calories is only how much you should eat if you are trying to lose weight(which she is, which is why I suggested it) but when she is finished losing weight she should eat 2000 calories a day and keep her activity level around the same.

She needs to eat a more balanced diet. Tell her what she is doing is going to be bad for her health. Lack of sufficient nutrients, vitamins and minerals. The body will begin catabolising or burning muscle for energy when on a diet that restricted (not good). Losing weight slowly over more time will make it much easier to keep off in the future also... Good luck.

i doubt very much she is telling the truth about that. Dieters can be quite crazy, telling people how they are masochists. If she does only take in that much, chances are she has binge days every so often, where she eats like a mad pig.
If what she says is true, then she would not have the energy to even walk.
Mark my word, in two months she will be the same weight, if not more.

tell your friend that you have decided not to mind your own business, and you think she is crazy, therefore, you are taking it into your hands to notify her that she should not lose weight as fast as she will, if she keeps up the regeime she has undertaken for herself, you should tell her that incase she is not aware of it, she should lose weight in a healthy way, and taking off about two pounds a week to two and a half to three pounds a week would be okay, that way,she will think that she is crazy too,and realize that being crazy, she does not have to look that good for anyone,

Well, she's going to get sick from lack of essential vitamins. No, an apple a day does not keep the doctor away in this case. Then, after she gets sick, and sick and tired of this way of eating she'll gain every ounce back.

I ready a great book on fitness. Lorraine Bosse Smith's Finally Fit it has information on what your calorie intake should be and what kind of excise works for the different personality types, look into it for your friend. it's about life change, not crash diets!

If this is an ongoing behavior, then your friend has an eating disorder. Whether she does or not, the only thing you can do is express your concern and then be a healthy role model.

It isn't good. But there isn't much you can tell someone who is determined to do it.
Besides, she is going to lose muscle too.
If she is heavier, she will end up with flabby extra skin.
And, she'll be tired all the time...

You should tell her that she will gain it all back and more unless she plans on living her life the same way for the rest of it. She could also die.
