I am a very capable, educated , professional woman. I make executive business decisions for a large company daily. My boyfriend feels the need to tell me how to do everything and trys to make me feel like I'm not able to handle everyday life situations without him telling me how to do them. Why do some men need you to be passive and let them control what goes on?

Because their egos are at stake. They feel inferior. Have very low self esteem.

because it has been ingrained into the minds of men since the beginning of time that they are superiour, and only in the last 100 years has that been proven wrong. whats his mom like? or his dad. always take a close look at someones family before u get involved...i know it sounds wierd but how attatched are you to your family and they're point of view? Some men feel like the "*****" when the woman brings home the bread, and cant handle it. and some men are proud thet the woman they love has a good mind and can work in what is sadly, still a mans world. if your relationship with this guy is serious you need to let him know your job is your job and you do it because you enjoy it. And if you can make executive business decisions on a daily basis you dont need him trying to step in and help you tie your shoes. sorry to sound so bitter but i cant stand men like that

That's the reason why, they think just because they are "the man" in the relationship that they can control everything. They dint think that they woman can do things without a man being right there. It do sent even matter if you are successful them. its sI'mple to them " I'm the man I'm over you, your the woman im in control over you." But don't let get worst than that, you either need to kick him to the side, or if you really love him sit down and tell him about his self and how he needs to change or you are walking out that door. ITS SIMPLE AS THAT.

You give him the power to treat you this way. You need to speak up about your feeling. It may be too late since you did not express this from the beginning. You need to comfort him with these allegations. If he loves you he will try to change but if not you need to move on because he is a waste of your time.

maybe he is not so controlling as you might think. Challenge him and tell him what to do he might be submissive and is Turing to hide it from you. In any case do not let him control you work thing out together.

Their dad was that way or their mom was that way. They learned it from their parents most likely. Mine was a tyrant and very controlling, so I try not to be, but catch myself doing it.
