You can. But I don't know why you would want to with ceramic flat irons out there. But, if you must:

Partially dry hair, or allow it to dry naturally so its easier to work with.

seperate into sections beginning at the ear level, or lower for thicker hair.

Starting in the front hairline because that hair is usually thinner and dries faster:

apply a straightening balm (to each indiv. section or before sectioning ) see link below

Using a Round brush take small sections and dry.

Move up the head . Until all sections are finished.

Yes. I have a ionic hair dryer from Conair that I use and a ionic straightening brush. I separate my hair into layered sections while it is still very wet and blow-dry each section separately while brushing it with the straightening brush. I don't use the straightening sprays because it makes my hair feel sticky. This method really helps keep down the frizz too as I have thick hair and it looks so much thinner when I wear it this way. It is under $5 for a ionic straightening brush at Walmart.

it depends on how curly your hair naturally is and how straight you want it to be in the end.

blow dry your hair 3/4 of the way dry, then just get a big round brush (I have a ceramic 2" by conair with rough bristles that works well), separate your hair into sections (depending on how thick yours is---3 is a good place to start), curl your hair around the brush to the roots and slowly pull it downward with the hairdryer blowing directly on your hair. I like to go back over my hair with a flat iron to make it super straight after I do each section, but that defeats what you want to do.

this will get your hair straight with a little bounce left in it.

I don't like using product in my hair (i think it makes it feel heavy and not so clean) so I avoid the straightener cremes, but some people do like and recommend them.

Use a paddle brush if you canget one if not just use a nice brush. Best thing is to use hair jel in damp hair to get the static down. Next blow dry hair and keep brushing your hair from root to end as you blow dry the entire shaft of hair. You can also curl the ends under as u dry.
