The best way to make do with what you have, make things look good is to make sure the room is CLEAN.

Raid the cleaning closet, grab that vac, see if you have any Mr Clean Magic Erasers. Clean that room! It may seem boring to get started, but once you get going it kind of gets its own steam...you get things clean that you didn't even know were dirty, you see that black water in the bucket and you just want to find all the dirt and get it out. Items that are well loved and cared for and sparkly look much better than stuff that is just abused.

You also want to sort through your stuff and make sure you still really need and want everything in the room, get the clutter out and organize the rest in bins and things, or maybe even just piles, or use your closet shelves and dresser drawers, whatever you have available. You might want to take this time to start thinking about warm weather clothes and switch stuff out for the seasons, and purge items from your closet that you never wear. I say it's time to swap clothes but that's because I am in Texas. I ran the AC in my car today while I was wearing flipflops. Disregard if you are getting over the recent blizzards. hahah! (sorry)

Here is a fun thing to think about...

Is there a place in the house where you can swap out furniture for something else? Like in the basement, is there a chair, or something that you know isn't really getting any use where it is? It's like a shopping trip only free. Just know that if you take a piece that is a big deal in your family, etc you might need to check with your parents and make sure you can use it, commit to taking good care of it if it goes in your room.

You can make things work for seating and tables etc. You can cover a storage cube, put a throw pillow on top and sit on it. You can take a rough tote storage container, cover it with a tablecloth and use it for a coffee table.

For bed with a headboard try angling it in the corner furthest from your door. It will look neat and really open up the space. You can put a floor lamp behind it, or use that space behind the headboard for WELL ORGANIZED storage like out of season clothes. You can do this to create hidden storage in the corners behind any large piece of furniture. This would be stuff you rarely need to get to.

OK so here is some other stuff to think about:

In the whole room, you want to look at traffic patterns, this is one of the reasons you can tell that something isn't right when you look at a furniture arrangement. You don't want to have an obstacle course to get into bed, etc. If your room is small, don't CUT into it with large items like the bed, instead what you would do is keep lengths and widths together. Put the length of the bed going the same way as the length of the room, and more toward a corner than in the middle.

Sprinkle in some small wastebaskets all over the room if you are even the least bit lazy. It may not even be meant for trash. Maybe it is a pretty plant container, or a basket, or a coffee can that you decorated. This helps make sure that trash doesn't end up on the floor. On trash day just make your way around the room and combine them and take to the garage or the main household trash area.

I would go for ZONES in your room so the stuff is in the right place and the space works well. Some of the items in zones, especially lighting and some seating, will overlap but big pieces will tell you where the other stuff goes.

You want a SLEEP zone...bed, lamp, nightstand if you need storage there or a surface for a glass of water, etc.

You want a STUDY zone...chair, table, lighting, maybe you need to start here and put it where the computer plug is. It's nice to have natural light to study but you don't want to sit facing the window because this can be distracting. You want to sit facing the DOOR...this is also good feng shui.

You want a HANGOUT zone...maybe this is your bed...but for guests you want them to have somewhere to sit, a conversational area where you can have friends over and sit facing each other, whether you use the desk chair and bed, or a bean bag or a bench, etc.

The hangout zone kind of goes with the ENTERTAINMENT zone. If you have a TV, a game system, a stereo, or a hobby with special items, then this is in a place where you can get to it when you are hanging out, and see the TV etc.

You want a DRESSING zone...somewhere near your closet. Is there a way to put your dresser IN your closet? This makes it easy to put clothes away and gives you more room in the bedroom. For getting dressed and putting outfits together, you need good lighting, if you are near a window great! As well as a mirror...a hamper...and maybe a vanity area to sit to do makeup, jewelry, and hair. Bins on the floor for shoes, and above for belts etc.

Other storage pieces can go wherever they fit...drawer units, shelves, etc. and these help give you a place for TV, lamps, and displaying stuff you like to look at, or help with extra storage where a zone is missing storage space. Personally when I was a kid, I always used my bookshelf AS a nightstand, my alarm was in the shelves, the lamp on top, and my books near the bed where I liked to read before going to sleep. You might also use a shelf space for things like music and DVD.

You also want a LAUNCH zone. Let me explain. This is a place near your bedroom door...it may be hooks or a shelf, somewhere to sit, etc. It is the home for your school book bag, purse, keys, band instruments, etc anything that is used in your room but you usually take it with you when you leave the house. You can also keep your fav shoes and jacket there. This gives a place for all those other small portable things like your iPod, phone, and camera, etc too. The reason to put all this stuff together is that it speeds up the out-the-door time and keeps you from having to look for common items when you are getting ready to go somewhere.

Have fun and be good. And don't hurt yourself or break something trying to move stuff around yourself. Get help if you need it.

Are you old enough to get a job? It might be a fun way to earn money and learn about interior design. Get a job at any retail store that sells furniture, or art supplies, or curtains. Then you'll have some money to spend on your room. Even if you can't get the job right away, you can start looking. I know you have school, but maybe on the weekends. If there are no jobs around, learn how to sew and you will be able to make your own curtains. It sounds like you need something to do with all of your energy so you aren't stuck in your room feeling dissatisfied.

I consider Catherine. i might additionally upload that as quickly as you seem for different products in the domicile, bear in concepts here: a million)possibly changing out curtains with yet another room, or using a tablecloth as a curtain, might make a distinction. 2)place a tablecloth or great piece of wonderful cloth, over end tables or a small around table which would be on your room. 3)look by way of your acccessories. See in case you have scarves, handkerchiefs, jewlery, and so on., you need to use to help beautify around your room. An occasion may be to take a handkerchief, cap, and so on. and place it over a lampshade or you are able to take a necklace and drape it over the nook of a mirror. in case you have an previous necklace which you like, yet is possibly broken, provide it a clean existence! Take a warm glue gun and use the necklace to trim the backside of a lampshade, a image physique, and so on. 4)conflict by way of pictures you have gotten in image albums or in a container, and alter out photos on your room, as quickly as each and every couple of months. 5)Do you have products around the domicile for you to use to make artwork artwork on your room or cloth which you would be able to stitch as pillow covers, and so on.? Even an previous shirt, shirt, or skirt, may be used to diminish into squares to make pillow covers, table skirt or a duvet. 6)Do you have clean flora turning out to be exterior, than you are able to decrease and place in a vase on your room? Or is there a houseplant which you would be able to usher in from yet another room?

well start by cleaning and decluttering. throw all stuff out you ha vent used or worn in a year. If you have collections..organize them together..clean all surfaces...wash all linen..do you have too much furniture? If you have too much, try taking a piece out or something..might be easier to get a balance. good luck.

Watch the show "Freestyle" on HGTV. It has to do with exactly that- redecorating with no money. They really do make great improvements, you're bound to get ideas.

Keep it neat. Even if you still have the same old stuff, it will look and feel much better if it's at least clean and organized.

Trade items with friends if possible, trade your curtains with someone else, trade your green chair for her yellow chair. Stuff like that.
