What do you think? Maybe I have an anger problem, but it really irks me when people slam on their brakes at the end of a freeway onramp, because they are too scared to speed up and merge in, even when there is room. Isn't the appropriate thing to do to look and see if any cars are coming, pick a spot, match speeds, and move in at the freeway speed?????? Why do people find this task so hard? Why am I forced to merge on at 25 because some idiot can't figure out how to drive?

I drive a semi and usually am rolling at 80,000 lbs. I can't slow down coming onto freeway or it creates traffic hazard. You and I share the same feelings in this regard. Timid drivers a a real danger out there.

I feel the same way, but then I think of how I started to learn how to drive in the city. I'm from smsller area where we have one loop, 3 lanes, no one going over 55 or 60. The I moved to the DFW area and it was scary at first. Now I'm up to speed, I also get very frustrated in traffic, but then I think this person may be lost, or not an experienced driver. My biggest pet peeve are the faster cars that zip in and out of lanes like they're playing Frogger. Those are the idiots that think they own the road and continue to cut us off in traffic.

Yep, your way of merging is absolutely correct, that's why we have merge areas. Some people are either afraid of doing this right way, or don't know how to do this properly.

Either way, it's not the reason to be angry with them – as I understood after many-many years of driving. But almost everybody who drives properly does get angry at first (for a few years at least) – because those people do create high-risk situations because of their fear or ignorance.

I agree that it's annoying and especially frustrating when you are on a mission to get somewhere. I don't know why people do that, 'cause I don't. So I can understand your situation, but there are always another side to things. You don't know if the sun is in their face, maybe they have depth perception problems, maybe their passenger is distracting them,.....you never really know; so if someone is having trouble driving the way you want them too, just thank God at least your not driving with them!

Picking a spot and moving in is the right thing to do. You should never brake on the freeway unless you have to.

No . It's normal to get mad if they almost cause you to have an accident. A lot of people don't speed up because of what there driving. It's so slow it just doesn't go any faster. Just leave yourself more room next time.

well to answer your first question... yes I think you have a anger problem... for your second question ....yes you are suppose to match the speed... and pick a spot and slide in... but some people tend to drive more cautious than others... and may not be use to the area..so cut them some slack... just stay alert and stay safe and don't be one of those drivers that are tailgating...and shaking your fist... slow down... don't be in such a hurry...nothing is that important.

I am with you on this one. My mother was one of these people, so, thankfully, she quit using the freeways, because she was convinced that freeway speeds were too dangerous.

I told her that you're safer on the freeway than you are on surface streets, and she thought I MUST be crazy.....

It is inappropriate to get angry at other drivers who aren't doing things YOUR way. If a driver errs on the side of caution, why are you getting so angru? Maybe you SHOULD go to an anger-management seminar.

Slow down, relax and enjoy the ride; you only go around once! Sheesh!
