If a service was available to you for a 'House Doctor report' i.e. . Someone comes to your house, you are possibly looking to sell, and offer thier professional opinion on how you could make your house better to prospective buyers. . Would you get the service and if so how much would you pay??

We have had a House Doctor program on the tv she goes round houses telling them what to do to sell there house.

I wouldn't pay for this service as most of it is common sense any way.
Estate agents come round and take measurements etc when you put your house up for sale.
nice smell and no pet smells - no clutter - clean and tidy - Neutral decorating - well kept garden.
I think its daft when they tell you to put this furniture in and take this furniture out. they are buying the house not its contents why waste money renting furniture it costs enough to buy and sell a house as it is.

This is already a service, there are several.

Appraisers and inspectors look at the structural integrity of the house to tell you what it is worth as is...and help you determine whether it meets code, is habitable, is a fixer-upper or "move-in ready"...all of which affect the property value.

Then there is a relatively new real estate career that blends design and sales...it is called real estate staging. This is an assessment of the house through a buyer's eye...giving a homeowner ideas on how to make small investments to change the look of the home and make it more inviting to a buyer. This is what the whole "designed to sell" show is about.
A stager might tell you to clean up, declutter, change paint colors, remove dated panelling, or modernize a kitchen or remodel a bathroom in very cost effective ways that ups the property value or encourages a sale.

If you want to dabble in this kind of stuff this is the career you want...each has its own profile of what to expect to earn at the job, as well as what the services are worth in different areas of the country.

You do need to be credentialed for this stuff, you can't just freelance most of the time...the same as if you are good at backrubs but you aren't a massage therapist, you can't sell your services in a spa.
