There is nothing wrong with you... The house owner is not very neat. I would not use those utensils.

I think it's gross to not at least attempt to wash eating utensils with soap before putting them away, especially, when one has roommates! So, I think your attention to cleanliness in this case is normal. I had a roommate that would drink straight out of a bottle/carton; and that really grossed me out because bacteriar can be harbored that way.
However, I've also been on the other end of the situation. I'd be rinsing a blender out that I would be using later day and have someone ask "you're not going to put that in the dishwasher!?" Well, no, I got the liquid that was in it thorougly out, I didn't drink from it, so what's the point of taking the time and energy to run it through the dishwasher?
Why not work out a deal with your housemate? You will clean the all the dishes and the kitchen, if she does the cooking. Even if your schedules or house culture doesn't allow you to sit down together for meals--it sure would be easier for the both of you to come home and have food made.

Eww gawd....you are NOT a clean freak, it's pretty normal to want kitchen things to be clean since it all goes into your mouth then gets ingested! Oh sweetie you have my sympathy.
The person that uses a spoon, runs it under the water and thinks that it's clean it a dirty pig.
I would stock up on cleaning supplies and keep cleaning before and after you use things. If this woman ever leaves the house for a few hours at a time allowing you the opportunity to clean everything in that kitchen, I'd do that.
Just thinking about that spoon incident makes me want to break out the disinfectant wipes!
Best of luck to you and the dirty swine.

I think there's a happy medium. If you just stir something, a good hot-water rinse is fine. If you eat with it, it needs the full sopay sponge cleaning. She sounds disgusting. My roommate's kinda the same way. She never washes the bottoms or undersides of dishes, so they are greasy and dirty underneath. Grosses me out.

Are you a boarder in her home? It's going to be a pain in the neck if you have to wash everything before you can use it because she doesn't seem to care if things are clean or not. You like things clean, that doesn't make you a clean freak.
Do what you have to do and consider looking elsewhere for a place to live.

i am just like you. Or maybe i am worst. Nobody wants to use dirty crockeries or utensils and glasses. Before i use them i would usually check for spots or marks even though i know i cleaned them properly. I love keeping my house and everything in it spotless. And when friends came over for coffee, and they smokes too, i would pick up used ashtray and gave them a new one all the time. So u are normal.

You are not, by any means, a clean freak. You're just hygienic, like most other people! I definitely make sure my utensils are spick and span before and after I use them, and I personally would NOT use the owner's utensils...maybe think of purchasing your own set?

No, you're not abnormal. The kitchen is the ONE place in the house where there's no room for laziness in cleaning...not to mention the "gross out" factor, who wants week-old crusted food on their eating utensils? Not me!
