I asked my dermotologist about this when I was preg. She told me that it doesnt matter what type of lotion you use as long as you keep your skin moisturized. She also said that rubbing in the lotion (massaging your belly) is just as important because it helps to keep the skin from getting tight. Heredity does play a roll in how many or how dark they are, so ask your mom how her's were. I used Palmer's lotion twice a day. It is reasonably priced and smells good. Not sure if I just got lucky or if it really worked because I gained 70+ lbs and dont have any marks on my belly (a few light ones on my hips). So, get busy rubbing and Good Luck!

I am almost 34 weeks pregnant and Like you havent really had any stretch marks, well not up until last week, when I noticed a couple of them really low down on my belly... I have been using Cocoa Butter and Bio oil since about the 2nd month into my pregnancy but unfortunately they still appeared but Im not all that bothered to be honest... as long as they dont appear on my boobs!LOL! The baby has alot more growing to do in the final few weeks so you might get a few more but Just remember its all for a good cause! :) Best wishes x

Can I just make one observation in regards to stretchmarks? They suck! The worst part is that they will NEVER go away. The magazines always say how you just have to accept them and blah blah... but honestly it's very hard to even look at them.
I also, just like you had very light stretchmarks when I was first pregnant. Now I'm 32 weeks and am really starting to notice all the new fresh ones. I put the cocoa butter on them and try to keep them as moisturized as possible but it just impossible to prevent them.
What I've noticed is that they do get darker as you develop in your pregnancy, but have heard that they lighten up once you give birth. It still sucks either way you look at it. Lol.
Good luck and have fun!!

I recommend you use Cocoa Butter Lotion because it helps reduce the chances of getting more and will make the ones already there less apparent. Continue using it after you give birth. I've also heard that using Neosporin too, I tried it and seemed to work.

from my experience stretch marks will only begin to appear worse as you lose weight. over time even many bad stretch marks will improve (atleast slighltly) especially if you do the whole lotion thing, etc. anyway, dont worry to much about stretch marks. just make your body look good, and try to avoid REALLY dark tans and you'd be sexy as hell anyway.......

One of the downsides of pregnancy. They do get lighter afterwards though. Try stretch mark cream. It won't get rid of it but it'll keep the skin from getting itchy.

they will get much worse especially its also depends on how big your tummy is, and after giving birth it will become lighter but deeper...they said if you use baby oil or coconut oil...you will not have those stretch marks...there's no harm on trying, if you get good result...congratulations. if not, welcome to the club ;>
lastly, i haven't had the chance to use that baby oil or coconut oil theory because i'm already 5 months pregnant when i learned that i am pregnant ;>
