My son has been on prune juice since he was 3 weeks old! his doctor told me to put a little in his bottle. Now, he is 20 months old and loves the stuff. That's the only way I can keep him from getting constipated. A cup a day...everyday!!

Apple juice or grape juice(1 part water, two parts juice, as opposed to 1 part water, 1 part juice.) Diced peaches or baby food pureed peaches(VERY good!)
Constipation when you switch from breast milk or formula to cow milk is very common. Just make sure you give your baby water and/or juice too!
Do NOT give the baby bananas, applesauce, cheese, rice, potatoes or bread while he/she is constipated...that can make things worse.

I don't know about home remedies, but you can get him a stool softener as opposed to a laxative. A laxative will probably give him the runs and he may become dehydrated, but a stool softener will allow him to go to the bathroom with less pain. Of course check the box and make sure you don't give him too much, but cut the pill in half if necessary. Stool softeners worked wonders on my nephews and also on the girls i nanny for.

Prunes should work, but my grandmother always said she gave her kids a tablespoon of grape jam. She had 9 kids so I bet she's right!
