if life is a gift from god, why is returning the gift bad?

if god made some people knowing that they would not want to live that life, why did he create them against their will?

Suicide is not a sin. I lost my sister to suicide when she was 19. she had borderline personality disorder. I HATE when people say that suicides go to hell. Anyone desperate enough to actually follow through with it is mentally ill. god does not punish you for illness. People that claim otherwise need to be welcomed into reality with a pick axe to the head.

This question worries me. Are you considering suicide?

Anyway, to answer your question...
I do not believe in sin. I do believe in reincarnation. If things occur in one's life that leads them to feel that death is the best alternative (and I would hope that they explore every possibility), then maybe they are in need of a fresh start.

Also, I don't think that God (assuming God would have influence), knowing of one's unfortunate circumstances, would turn that person away from another chance to live a better life or enjoying a bit of peace for once.

However, I feel that each life is a lesson. That one must learn how to deal with what situations are thrown at them. I have lived through some terrible things. I have considered suicide in my darkest moments. But through persistence and determination, I made it through those horrible times. And now I have finally found my better life in the same life that gave me anguish.

I DO realize that I am lucky. Not everyone comes out of their situations. Sometimes a bad situation kills a person. Sometimes a person kills themselves before that happens.

I just want to suggest that every other exit be explored before this one is.

God gave you life to enjoy. If you are not enjoying it then i would suggest that you try new things and get out of your rut. The reason suicide is a sin is two fold. 1st - you are rejecting the gift of life by throwing it away as if to say I don't want it anymore. How can you decide this since you have not experienced all life has to offer. 2nd- How can you seek forgiveness for something until after you have done it. After the deed is done, you are not alive to ask for forgiveness. Life is a precious gift. Maybe you just haven't lived long enough to get to the good part.

You're not returning the gift to God. Returning the gift to God would be living your life in his service, helping others. When you commit suicide, you're taking the gift God gave you and destroying it. That is part of why it is considered a sin. Another part is that it is taking life, a kin to murder. It is one of the most selfish acts that any person here can commit.
God did not create us against our will. I think we all wanted to be a part of this life in the beginning. It is up to us to make our lives worth living.

God Created everyone because they have a plan for their lives, the act of taking your own life is denying the plan that he laid out for you at the beginning. Sin means missing the mark... how can one not see that to destroy what God made and loved enough to take a physical part

Genesis 2: 7 "And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living being."

in its creation is missing the mark that God set for your lives.

True, life is a gift.
Suicide is a symptom of extreme mental illness. Society sees it as murder because it is the deliberate taking of a human life.
However, I believe that God is a healing God, Who does not punish the sick.
As for why God allows people to be born into this world, knowing they aren't going to want to stay- I can only say this. His choice is to give us the opportunity for relationship with Him ,and with other people. But He wants us to willingly choose this for ourselves. That means risking that we might choose not have a relationship with Him at all. And it means permitting the possibility that some may choose to leave this world altogether.
I will say this too; in the time that I shared with my now late fiance' he blessed my life beyond belief, and not only mine but everyone we knew

It a sin because it's murder. We each have our own free will to do as we want, or as we see fit. God may know that there is a possibility for that to happen, but that doesn't mean it will happen. We all chose to come to earth, to be born. I think we may have even picked some of our challenges in life. It's up to us to find a way to handle them, and see them through. Suicide is a scape goat. People say it's an easy way out of a problem. It isn't. You have more to worry about when you die then when you are alive if you kill yourself. Those problems aren't just going to go "poof" once you die. There are certain medical and mental conditions that can cause a person to want to kill themselves, and I don't think those are looked at the same way as someone who just wants to not have problems anymore.

God's gift of life is for us to use for His glory. He wants us to do His work on earth, each of us has an assignment, a purpose. To end your own life is to negate that purpose and become God in a sense. If you choose when and how you die, you've trumped God's plan. Suicide is not returning the gift in the manner you seem to imply, it's more like returning an item to a store. Saying no thanks, I don't want your gift.

I believe that if someone really has a relationship with God, there would be no reason for suicide. Suicide is usually out of depression or hopelessness. Jesus counters those things for those who follow Him. He gives us purpose and hope and joy and a reason to live every day to it's fullest.

I'm not Christian, but I will try to answer this based on what I do know about the religion.

All life is sacred, and so taking a life is a sin because you are destroying something sacred. If you murder someone else, you have time to be forgiven if that is going to happen at all. If you kill yourself, that's it, you're gone, you don't have time to repent.

A Christian will probably tell you that God made some people knowing that they would not want to live that particular life in order to help them become a stronger person. Perhaps He/She/It wanted that person to turn to their spirituality or faith for the strength they would need to get through their life rather than just ending it.

Personally, I believe suicide is a really selfish act. People who commit suicide are either not in their right mind or really are just selfish, because everyone has at least one person who cares deeply about them, and suicide deeply hurts the people who love you.

Well, first of all its murder because it is pre-meditated. You are killing one of Gods children, whether it be yourself or someone else is secondary to that.
But theres more to this: First, even though lots of people on this forum tell others that God foreknows what everyone will do in their life, whether they will be happy or not, etc., thats not true according to the Bible's original texts. He does not know, nor does he want to know. Free will is really free will.
Nobody was created against their will; we were already created before we came thru this flesh life. We were in spiritual bodies, and we will return to that spiritual body after we leave here. So killing yourself will not really kill you; it will send you back to God with the message to him that you refuse to be in the flesh. That won't make him very happy, but even more than that, you don't know what specific purpose you may have in the flesh, and interferring with Gods Plan is not something ya want to do. Back when you were still with Him, before you came in the flesh, you were quite willing to do it, I assure you. It was a planned event, with each and every one of us present and accounted for.

If God new that you could not make it out in the world he would of not put you out here so when he did he still thinks that people of today still have a chance in life so just killing your self God did not put you here just for you to be here he wants you to do something with your life God wants you to go for what you believe in so just stick to it and do it
