All cellphones periodically "ping" the service provider to maintain service in the event that you moved out of the area and need to be re-routed to a closer tower. This interferance is the signal travelling from your cellphone to the tower and back. It also triangulates you position, letting you cell-phone company and whichever governmental agencies active to find out exactly where you are, with an accuracy of 5 square feet. Also, since it costs your cellphone company no additional resources just to leave your cellphone connection on, they can use your phone's microphone or camera to spy on you.

If you ever go to pick up or drop off something you're not supposed to have, or plan to commit murder... leave the cellphone at home.

Every so often the cell phone communicates with the nearest cell phone tower known as "polling" so that the tower knows where the phone is located. So the phone make this kind-of wavy noise for a few seconds and it interferes with your computer monitor or TV. Just move it away and it will be fine.

static interferance. your tv speakers pick up the signal your phone makes. That noise is your phone connecting and communicating throughout the day with the host/phone provider. the tv is acting like an amplifier. sometimes it makes that noise right before your pone rings. car stereos and muzak systems pick up that frequency as well on certain phone types. most brand new phones have that taken care of though

The cellphone is causing RF (Radio Frequency) interference in the circuits (most likely the audio circuit, or the speakers themselves) inside your TV. This is very common with the digital phones nowadays, you will find this happens near unshielded or poorly shielded stereo & car audio systems.

I get that noise through my office desk phone when my cell phone is near it an is about to ring. As of yet, I haven't figured out why it happens, but it makes me crazy.

It is a rule by the FCC Federal comunications commision. The rule states that any telecommunication device has to allow interference from any other device. What is happining is that your Tv is also intercepting signals that are meant for your cellphone.Since the tv is not built for cellphone use it can not interpret those signals thus it makes sounds. I hope this helps you

Yeah mine does the same thing I think it has something to do with the cell phone getting reception, it somehow makes the tv make a sound.

Glad you brought this up, New Dad. It happens at our house, too, at the most inopportune moments when Hub and my interest will peak and then TV picture visuals fragment into shards, and the static interferes, and -like you say- the interruption is brief, but just often enough to be unnerving, after a tad bit. It will be informative what anyone can explain about this. Thanks.

Your TV is probably working off of an analog signal as well as your cellphone. So the signal that you are getting from your cellphone is probably interfering with your tv signal.
