How many do you have?

Yes and no.

There are still a lot of close minded people out there.

I personaly know 2 cops, 3 paramedics, 3 nurses all with full sleeves and a doctor with forearm tats. I think that it shows that in someways tats in genneral are more acceptable. I also know an insane amount of health care people with facial piercings (eyebrows, lips, nose - you name it) In time I think it will be recognized as a form of self expression, but right now there is still some discrimination

Tattoos are definitely more acceptable in the past decade. People don't tend to judge based on appearance as much as they used to. I have 5 tats now and want many more. The tats that you are visible, people seem to take an interest in and ask what they mean, etc. This shows a growing understanding of the right and want to put these permanent pieces of artwork on your body. Of course, there are those old fogies that will disagree and hash on people that have them but in the end, its your body and nobody can tell you what you can or can't do with it. I even have several visible piercings and have not had any problems being accepted in the workplace or elsewhere. Occasionally I get the joke made about having so many (12) by the construction workers I support but its all in good fun and not intended to be hurtful or spiteful. If you are asking because you want to modify your body in some way, I would just recommend that you ponder carefully where to put the tat and what it will be. Remember that you won't be young forever and that a lot of places on your body will begin to "change shape" over the years and affect the look of the tat. Good luck.

All tattooing is more socially acceptable - people from all walks of life come through our doors.

I would say that full sleeves are not as acceptable as smaller, individual pieces, but it is interesting how many people really want to look at those and truly do study them with respect for the art and the artist!

i think full sleeve tattoos are becoming more acceptable in society but i don't think they are so acceptable that we will be seeing executives and CEOs with them readily exposed at work. there is still a stigma agains people with visible tattoos and it will take a long time for them to be acceptable.
i have three tattoos right now, 6 if you count the ones that i have had covered up (they're still there, just covered!)

it also depends on the area of the country you live in. i live in austin tx, which has a huge population of musicians, artists, and hippy types. ive never seen so many professional people with tattoos and unusual hair.

in certain circles..understand it makes more sense depending on what you do for a living and so on. If your an artist in any field and for sure working for yourself then yeah not too shabby but if your the dude that is all tatted up and frying burgers at 30 then i dunno man..of course if your a rock star then its all about the tats....
