My Fiance has a 6 year old son who will be the ring bearer in our spring wedding. Any thoughts on something special that we can do for him/us to signify that once we are married that we are all a family?

I saw this idea on Oprah. Her guests were Garth Brooks and Trisha Yearwood. At their wedding, Trisha said vows with his daughters. Just something simple, but from the heart.

You could also exchange some kind of token of affection with him to go along with vows. Maybe he could even help walk you down the isle.

Congrats and Good Luck!! ;)

You could give him something at the wedding, a small token, during the ceremony to symbolize that you are a family. Its a bit tough with a boy for a girl I would say a ring but I'm not sure if a boy would go for that. How about a nice watch and on the back you can engrave "the beginning of our time as a family 04/10/07" or whatever your wedding date is. Good luck.

Incorporate a Unity Candle in the ceremony, and have all three of you light it together, to signify the beginning of your new family together.

By the way, I think it's great you are looking to make him feel included. He will defintaly feel the love if you make him a part of the ceremony!

Some vows are made for people who already have children. I know our Father (minister) is going to do a blessing on the two of us as a couple and then us as a family (we have two sons together). So there's always that option.

At the reception have a sweet heart table, with you and your husband and his son at the table so this way it's just the 3 of you.

You could include additional vows to him, promising that you will be a good mother and love him.
