i don't mind bad spelling, its the grammar sometimes. You just haven't got a clue what they're asking cos the whole sentence is back to front

It depends on the way the question has been constructed some people have a genuine gremlin of not been able to spell properly. Some people suffer a medical condition that hinders the way they write and spell. Some are just plain morons who do not give a care and the rest are just plain lazy and think it looks cool to put a sentence down without structure or thought to grammar or spelling.
We do have the benefit of the spell check but once again some are to lazy to use it or may have a medical condition that enables them to understand what it is for. Once again some just dont give a rats fig!
I myself am happy to answer all types of questions, in any format, bad spelling,bad grammer and so on why well I get two points if i am lucky best answer but the main reason i enjoy answering a question if I know the subject and can help someone surely that is what this is about and not playing teacher!

I think that anyone who wants to ask a question on this forum should do. If they can't spell or use text speak who cares as long as there message gets through to some one who can answer the question, and isn't that the point of this place we don't judge people and there are too many of us for arguments to break out that's why I like coming on here, I answer a few questions when I get back from work and think that people will read them and take the advice or what ever. By the way I do use the spell check function, but it doesn't help if it doesn't know what word it is, whereas people can make out what you have put.

Not surprised that people can't spell. It is not taught on the curriculum. My kids were taught by spell 'as you pronounce it' when that was the teaching fad of the moment and at 36 and 38 neither can spell today. My grandson just failed his English A because of his spelling even though he had pass marks on 3 out of the 4 papers. It is a bit late in the day to teach him to spell, at 16, a few months before his finals. It is a good thing that they will, mostly, be working with computer in the future, with spell check, but even spell check is only of use if the word is not a correct word. We need to get spelling back as part of the education system if you want folk to spell correctly. Write to the education authorities not Yahoo answers. If you were to ban appalling spellers you wouldn't have many people on the site. I just did a spell check with the word pronounce spelled incorrectly it did pick it up but not the word itself, even computers can't spell everything for you.

Not at all old boy .if one is reasonably competent in ones exposer in the revealing .The answer in the content in the general specification of wider scope in studies example .One should never contemplate the omit of the wise no matter what fundamental grammar is reverlent in short. The reason may be malformation of expressed views medical condition the very wisest are sometimes disadvantaged in the physical but not the final analysis Eg If I was to urinate in the toilet bowl and miss the bowl.And another urinates in the same bowl and does not miss the bowl the end result is the same .But on the way to complete not so transform by the 1st gent would be yours truly

Normally no, I don't mind the odd typo, not everyone is good at spelling and I think it is petty to answer someones question just with a criticism of their spelling. I only object when I click on a question where you are struggling to understand the question, if every word has a mistake then they ought to be using the spell checker, but usually that is just as much a problem with people's grammar as their spelling.

I quite agree with you. Is my pet hate on here that some idiots are allowed to post when yahoo provides a free *check spelling* service. Maybe the answer is an automatic spell checker. Yahoo should also ban the *points gatherers* who answer a question by *yes* *no* . Will never happen though :(
Maybe things will improve but don,t hold your breath. Regards to you.

You know many people have real problems spelling, some people find they cant use a spell checker because the checker doesn't pick up the correct word. Dyslexia is not just a word it is a condition and one that no one enjoys. No one deliberate spells badly or do you think poor spellers enjoy the ridicule and teasing. It is not laziness or attitude it is something they cant help. and I know that someone who can spell will never never understand it. As well laugh at someone who is deaf because they cant hear. you should be ashamed of your attitude

I think people with absolutely appalling spelling, the sort of spelling where you can't work out what the question is, should pause, click on Check Spelling, change every word it highlights then submit. The question would remain gobbledygook as not enough of the original word is close enough for the spell check to pick out the right word, but it would probably be fun to read. I typed out Kubla Khan (Coleridge) once and the resulting poem, if read out loud, was quite funny.

Bad spellers exist all over the world, some people are not educated enough or simply do not care. If you know what a person is saying aside from the horrible spelling, why does this bother you? Someone not as intelligent as yourself should not post? So if I'm more experienced in a subject, should I ask you to refrain from inputting your opinion? Why do people feel a need to criticize bad spellers?
I'm sorry this bothers you.
/Not a great speller myself
//Thank god for spell check
///Not trying to flame you because I'd never hold my intelligence over anyone.

Banning questions with poor spelling would be a bit Draconian (maybe people just forget to use the 'Check Spelling' button.
Speaking personally I hate this love of text style abbreviations, but that is a different matter.
