I had a consulation with a great Orthodontist in Downtown DC. He suggested i get top invisglin and bottom metal braces, only wearing them for about a year. Great just can't afford $7480 or $6580 (for all metal.) Lower would be better. Help!

LOL!!!! That happened to me too! I had to go to more than Ortho consultation before I decided. Are you paying out of pocket? Or does your insurance cover a portion?

If you are paying for the expense yourself, then you may want to look at some of the dental discount plans like Ameridental.com They saved me over $1200. They have a dentist/ortho search on their website as to who accepts their plan.

If your insurance is paying for it then, you have to find a cheaper one through who will accept your dental plan.

I would also stay out of DC and try Maryland or VA. I went with a ortho in Reston. If you want her info, let me know and I will give it to you.

Good Luck!!!!!

If you are concerned about cost and the invisilign is more money, how about going with traditional braces both top and bottom even if have to wear them for a couple of years. I had braces (for the second time as first time stopped wearing retainers) and got the clear kind on top and metal kind on bottom since they say that the metal kind move teeth a bit easier and quicker.

You can also shop around for an ortho in your area and ask for prices. Please make sure that he or she is licensed and if the dr teaches at a dental school, that can indicate that they are more abreast on today's newer techniques.

I hate to break it to you but there is no such thing as reasonably priced orthodontic work. I have tried everything.(I have spent about $5,000 on my ortho work already and I am not even done yet.)
