Suppose you are arguing with your buddy over a statement he made. You'd ask him to back up his argument with factual evidence. In the end, however, his arguments amount to "it's so because I say it's so."

Would you accept this as proof that he's right?

Why then, would you accept the Bible's assertion that the Christian god is Lord and Creator? Doesn't it use the exact same rationale?

I walked up to the Bible and asked, "How am I to know that you're God's words?"

And the Bible said, "It's so because I say it's so."

I think I have the same problem with the bible b/c of my parents.

When I was little, they always said, "Because I said so" All I really wanted was an explanation so that I could better understand their reasoning. A lot of arguments would have ended if they had just explained themselves

That's why I try to NEVER say that to my kids and to explain the whys and hows of things.

Wish we could get whoever's up there to do that.

Actually, a open mind will find a great deal of evidence to support the Bible's assertions. Of course it all depends on whether you want to take the time to do legitimate research or not.

People will not see your point until the look at the bible differently. Right now they look at is as "THIS IS THE WORD OF GOD", but instead try looking at it as "Is this the word of God"

I use the assertion based on archaeology and facts of nature that the Bible is right. Then, I know that the Bible's assertions are right.

If I were just accepting things with my head, I would agree with you but since I have accepted with my spirit and heart the Bible, I have received tangible evidence in my own life.

If you want to know the bible is true then ask God, not your friend.

no dear, it is totally different. For a human being to assert their word above all others is not "proof" of anything - however for GOD to assert His Word above all others is not only "proof" but ETERNAL TRUTH. God's words are above man's words - that is what makes the difference.

Because god is perfect... he said so in the book he wrote about himself. Actually he had his lackeys write it for him and apparently they are incompetent because they didn't write it exactly as god meant it.
