It does depend on the format of the original.
VHS ------- put it into any VCR or video player
VHS-C --- buy the VHS-C to VHS adapter, then play in VCR
8mm ------ buy or rent another 8mm camcorder or buy or rent an 8mm VCR. They are hard to find and usually pair with a standard size VHS tape
miniDV ---- buy or rent another
miniDVD --- buy miniDVD to fullsize DVD adapter
hard disk recorder --- you will have to get it repaired

it depends on the format. The only one that you can play without a separate player or camcorder is the older VHS-C. You can buy a cassette adapter for that and play it in a regular VCR. 8mm DV can not
