I'm a wedding planner, and the idea of releasing butterflies is really beautiful. I think for the center peices on your tables it would be really beautiful for you to have like a globe in the center of a flower arrangement with two butterflies in it and just a sheer peice of tulle tied over the top. It would compliment that really well. Not one butterfly because two would symbolize a union. Also, another really beautiful idea would be to have a fish bowl in the center with two gold fish in it. If you are looking to make the reception sort of magical, another really sweet idea is to get really sheer table cloths for your buffet/food tables and string white Christmas lights underneath. When the lights are dim it looks like a starry night sky. On those tables you can get different shapped mirrors to sit the food on. It gives the buffet area a really enchanting appearance.

Cute idea with the butterflies! I love that.
A few things I did at my wedding that were kind of unique. I had a wedding dance...all married couples go to the dance floor. Have the DJ start with couples that have been married less than 1 day leave the dance floor (you and your husband), then less than 1 year leave the dance floor, 5 years, 10 years, 20 years and the couple that is dancing the longest, give them a special gift to celebrate their long marriage. This went great at my wedding and we had 2 couples married 50 years left, 55 was the longest. It was really special.
For the guest book, I had a quilt that I made...people signed it and wrote something special for me and my husband and its something we can keep and look at all the time. If you have someone you know who makes quilts, ask then to make you a special one for your wedding day.
Good luck and congratulations!

Before the end of the reception at my wedding, the photographer did a slidewhow of the wedding. It was nice, it started with me and my hubby's baby photos, dating photos, and then continued on to the ceremony and the reception. Nice music was playing in the background! It'c nice because people will see themselves at your wedding. Look for a photographer who can do this at the reception. Depending on the location of your wedding, fireworks is a great way to end the night. After the best man and maid of honor gave their speeches, other people took turns saying stuff too, telling stories, wishing us luck and talking about us. I thought that was sweet. We also put a bunch of disposable cameras on the tables so people took pictures of the wedding, it's cool because you get a variety of photos that the photographer might have missed! Look online for some ideas, or in bridal magazines!

every wedding has 1 or 2 unique elements about it but don't go overboard with some cheesy theme like skulls...? the theme of the day is marriage, don't let that get away from you. you basically pick 2 theme colors and then see what you can do with those for invitations, flowers, centerpieces, and all the other wedding items that you can match! you can use the internet to find ideas for favors and decorations and your vendors will give you ideas too.

I would talk to someone who has release butterflies at a wedding to see how it went. I raise Painted Lady butterflies every year in my classroom and when we release them....they are hesitant to fly away at first. They land close by and stay for awhile.
I know someone who said this happen at a wedding they went to as well.

If you are going for a butterfly themed wedding, check out this website with neat items to purchase and incorporate into your day. I believe that it would add a really nice touch to incorporate theme--only if you do not currently have one and it doesn't conflict with your chosen colors. Happy Planning!

cupcakes are cheaper and better. Do yourself a favor and pick up unconventional materials like Cosmopolitan's bridal issue. They can give you great ideas, also remember your wedding is also a party so don't be afraid to look for ideas about parties and incorporate them in.

If your wedding is at night you could do sparklers for your send off. Basically everybody holds a sparkler in two lines while you leave and you walk through them. Cute for pictures. We are doing this at our wedding. Good Luck!
