I'm going for a blood test on Monday and they're testing for a whole host of possible things including anemia, hypothyroidism and diabetes. Cheers :o)

You don't say what your symptoms are that sent you to the doctor to begin with, but some reasons to test for an underlying infection could be a slightly elevated temperature, a persistent body or mouth odor despite daily bathing or brushing and wearing deodorant, or an unexplained, higher-than-normal white blood cell count.

As someone else mentioned, it is always best to be a full partner in your treatment, and to do that you should ask your doctor specifically what symptoms have prompted him or her to order these tests. S/he should be happy to tell you.

It would help to know what your symptoms where when you went to the doctor. But if they are running all those test it sounds like they might trying to rule out things so they can better treat what you came in to see them for.

Good Luck!
