I found out my claim for the dole was sanctioned a while ago. So I made two applications: one for hardship, one for jobseekers. They made no correspondance so after a few weeks I went in to ask them what was going on with the claim.

They turn round to me and have the cheek to say I'm not entitled to anything because I didn't sign on. But they didn't tell me anything about that, instead they sent me a letter saying my rate was going UP! How am I supposed to know when to sign on if I'm making a whole new claim? This stinks, they wrote to me explicitly saying I have money coming in and then they don't pay it. What can I do? Can I take them to court?

doubt you can take them to court but i'm sure you can complain...if your new claim goes through they should write to you telling you how much and when. a requirement of being on JSA is that you must sign on once a week or fortnight (???) and do job search or they can and will reduce or stop your payments. you should also be given a job search adviser who sees to it/helps with job search/reviews etc. thats the person who you'd also normally see to sign on because they give you an appointment card with your follow up. if you don't recieve these details then you should go to you local job centre and ask for one.

once you signed on they ought to have given you a date to work out the consultant? interior the propose time make an attraction against their determination and then practice for a disaster own loan explaining to them which you have utilized for JSA, they ought to provide you something in spite of if its the bare minimum. in case you have success with the disaster own loan you will ought to do this each 2 weeks till its appeared after sturdy success ( the disaster own loan people will ask what your worry is, you will starve as you have no longer any money for nutrition, no kinfolk and so on and no-one that may assist you )

Make an appointment to see some one at the Job Center and take all the paperwork with you. Don't leave untill it's sorted out.

NB. try to make allowances - many of the staff in Job Centers are only one step away from being unemployed themselves ...
