You are not responsible for her sins. However, you are aiding her in a nasty habit. The next time she asks you to buy her cigarettes, tell her you do not believe that they are healthy for her, you do not believe that Heavenly Father wants anyone to smoke and that you do not feel comfortable buying them. She can either buy them herself (if she is able) or she can arrange for someone else to purchase them.
Being honest is the best way to go on such touchy subjects.

She'll get the cigarettes either way. If anything, you're showing your mom love and respect by kindly doing what she's requested of you. Cigarettes will tarnish your mom's lungs, but they're not what keeps her soul black - that can only be accomplished by rejecting Jesus Christ. One time a friend of mine bought a guy a bottle of beer, sat with him, and just talked. I think it meant a lot to the fellow that someone actually took time to get to know him. That man accepted Christ. Was it wrong to buy the beer? You tell me.

If you hold to the letter of the bible you are assisting a sinner thus carry the same sin but yet you are supposed to obey your parents. These are the many contradiction in the bible but the faith driven believers would just accepted as the word of God. That is the problem with absolutes. Everyone under this law would be unjustly thrown in hell.
Don't you know your laws in the U.S. is just as crazy.

I don't think I should be the one to decide what's a sin and what isn't, but, if you feel strongly against cigarettes you SHOULD NOT buy them as it's going agaisnt your principals and your Mom shouldn't ask you to do that.

Smoking isn't a sin. If you're saying that it goes against the "your body is a temple" thing, then sure, it damages God's creation. But YOU are honoring your mother by fulfilling her request. Sin doesn't transfer, she's responsible for her sin, and you are responsible for yours.

Cigarettes aren't a sin. If you don't obey your mother and father that is a sin.

Commandment 4. Honor thy Father and Mother
Smoking isn't a sin, toots. I think you are over-analyzing it and making a mountain out of a molehill. If it really bothers you so much, why don't you tell her that you'd prefer not to purchace them.

Ask yourself what are the consequences if you refuse and she dicides to keep smoking.
Will she distance herself over your moral stand?
How important is it for you to have your mother be a part of your life.
Unlike telling someone to stop eating candy or tapping you on the shoulder, smoking is an addiction.
