Is it ok for my parakeet/budgie to eat papaya?

I read online it was bad for them but it seems odd that they can't.Is this missinformation or is it true?

I never fed papaya to any of my birds.

I would say peel the papaya first because the fruit may have been sprayed.

I feed papaya to my bird all the time. Don't feed a lot at once as it makes their poop orange.
