You can make this in a big batch and store in a plastic container and use as needed. Enjoy!

4 cups flour
4 cups finely crushed saltine crackers
1/4 cup salt
2 Tbsp. sugar
1 Tbsp. garlic powder
1 Tbsp. onion powder
1 Tbsp. pepper
3 Tbsp. paprika
1/4 cup vegetable oil

Mix all dry ingredients together well. Drizzle oil over mixture and mix thoroughly until oil is well distributed and particles are fine. Store mix, refrigerated, in a tightly covered container. Adjust spices and salt level to your taste.

I enjoy coating peeled sliced potatoes in a plastic bag to which you put a tablespoon of dehydrated soup mix to a quarter cup of parmesan cheese that has been finely grated. Vary the kind of soup mix each time for a different flavour. French onion is nice. So is cream of chicken. Shake the potato slices in the mixture, lay in a baking pan and spray lightly with cooking oil of choice. Then bake. If you like a crunchy bit of finish to it, you can also add a couple of tablespoons of cornflake crumbs to the mixture.

Bon Apetit!

The best coating that I have found for potatoes is plain old steak seasoning. Any good brand will suffice. The spices in the steak seasoning really set off the taste of the potatoes, and provide a crunch on the outside. The smell of these vegetables cooking will drive your family crazy with hunger!
Enjoy!!!

I can't find the shake and bake anymore so.........believe it or not, I buy a package of the ranch dressing seasoning (you make from scratch with mayonaise) and place that in a zip lock bag with the cut potatoes (make sure potatoes are dry) and shake and then bake on a cookie sheet.

I haven't had any complaints yet and shake and bake just lost a lot of profit to good seasoning :-)

I use Luzianne Brand chicken coating mix, it's dry and makes killer fried new potatoes or oven baked potato wedges. It's right next to the Shake n'Bake, green box, can't miss it.

homemade coating to taste like or even better than shake n bake is 2 cups flour, half cup fine cornmeal, lemon pepper seasoning, garlic seasoning, salt pepper, seasoning salt add a little parsley flakes for color, make sure your potatoe is damp not drenched with water, before coating. then deep fry, or if you bake, drizzle a little oil on top.

Lipton onion soup is wonderful on potatoes. I cooked it last night, and my husband, my 5 year old son, and my mother all loved it. It coats the potatoes and gives them a wonderful flavor. Try it. You'll love it!
