It's not really how fast you move (running vs. walking) that matters, it's what you want to accomplish. If you want to lose weight, you can do either one, provided you reach your target fat-burning heart rate. Each person has a general target heart rate where they start burning fat. Depending on your current body type, how much you weight and your age, you might be able to reach this target heart rate by walking briskly or you might have to jog a little. But either way, you have to sustain it for at least 20 minutes. Most fitness programs recommend at least 20 minutes of aerobic exercice to help in fat burning. Do a search on the web for target heart rate and losing weight. There is a general scale you can use to figure out which you need to do, walk briskly or run. For instance for me to start burning fat, I have to get my heart rate up to at least 90 beats per minute (I prefer to run and have worked my way up to a 5K distance). But you should do some research first before starting.
I hope that answered your question. If not, you need to be a litle more specific.

Niether. I find cycling is the best. But if I had to chooce just between walking or running, I`d go for walking as long as you got the time. I find I could walk for many many hours, but running tires you out at a much shorter distance.

Better for what purpose?
Walking to work rather than running might be better if they don't have shower facilities....
Running might be better than walking if a lion is chasing you...
Is it reasonable to expect people to put forth the effort to give you good answers if you're too lazy to ask a proper question?

Depends. A brisk walk can be even more beneficial that a run for a pear shaped individual. It is also easier on knees, hips, etc. than running. Take care...
