There was a follow up in Stars and Stripes about this, and Starbucks claims that they only turned them down because they depend on their franchises to do the donations, not the corporate HQ.

Having said that, I'm quite positive that there is an element of truth to it. I, too, received a letter from corporate HQ stating that they do not make contributions in cash or goods to "military organizations". The Starbucks respresentative didn't get into the war.... It was a professionally worded letter. However, their message was quite clear.

I have a feeling that the Marine or soldier who received a rejection letter got one with the same wording as I did... but as more people heard the story it got changed slightly and more inflammatory.

(I still have the letter and can most certainly prove it.)

Makes me sick when I see they're selling Starbucks on post, too. They'll never get a penny out of me.

Totally bogus story. On my husbands first deployment, Starbucks not only sent coffee to Iraq but also coffee makers and an espresso machine. Big supporters of the military.

This article is not true. I work for Starbucks and have personally been involved in shipping coffee to our troops in Iraq. We have shipped coffee on 2 different occasions. Large quantities of coffee. Personally, I support our troops and the war. Although I would like to see it end as soon as humanly possible, if conditions and reasons are right.

This is true!, they did tell the troops no. The really sad part is there are Starbucks coffee stands and shops allover the base! They should make them shut down and leave! They don't have to support the cause although, they should support the troops. I will never buy at Starbucks again!

Wouldnt surprise me, and although Starbucks isnt required to give them free stuff didnt anyone learn from that Mattress company that wouldnt sell to the troops? It got totally owned by the media and the people of this country lol I hope this is fake for Starbucks sake. Then again, Starbucks is run by a bunch of Yuppi Starbucks drinking soccer mom liberals.

I've heard it before, but I don't know if it's true or not. However, I do believe this quote:
"There is no better way to support those who are fighting in Iraq than to guarantee that no more of them die in the service of political miscalculation"

Not true. Starbucks is part of the New World Order plan, which includes FINANCING THIS WAR.

Reports indicate that Starbucks has contributed over $18 million to the Bush Administration for this war.
