ex: cereal or bacon & eggs for breakfast, sandwiches for lunch, meat and potatos for supper, it occurs to me that it is kind of silly tradition & I am sure that it has not always been that way. Anyone have any ideas?

My guess is the women would get the milk and eggs in the morning and then cook them for breakfast. Maybe even added oats to the milk for cereal. Lunch would prob have to be fast so people could get back to work on the farm. And dinner would consist of more effort as the women would be cooking it all day so when the men got off the fields from hard work they could get a nice big meal. Just a guess.

It's just based on cultural tradition. In Asia, they don't really have a concept of breakfast food. It's just lighter versions of the same stuff.

In Japan, breakfast is often Bento box with rice, a piece of fish, some pickles, and miso soup. I've even had sushi at 6am also. In Vietnam, Pho (beef noodle soup) is a common breakfast.

it is because different types of foods were needed at different points of the day - we don't really need such large breakfasts anymore because people don't walk everywhere, or toil throughout the day doing heavy manual labor.
