I downloaded the Online Safety Shield program for free. Decided I didn't like it and went into the Add/Remove Programs and uninstalled it. Now I have 3 exe files that keep trying to open and my anti-virus program keeps picking them up. I think b/c they r backdoor programs. I can find the files if I do a search but for some reason it won't let me delete them. How do I get rid of them? I am running Windows XP and the three files are muzkey.exe, oss.exe, uninst.exe.

Do this...

Restart your computer in Safe Mode.

Restart your computer, BEFORE you see the Windows picture, hit F8. Hit it multiple times if need be. Once a menu pops up, use your arrow keys to select 'Safe Mode'

Yes, it's going to look different. Don't worry about that. Then do a search for those three files and you'll be able to remove them.

Then restart again and it should go into normal mode and you won't see those three files again.

Hope this helps.

These three files are part of Online Safety Shield. You must have downloaded the "free trial version." I could not find any removal instructions, but here's their 800 number. Call them and ask for technical help to get rid of their program:
1-866-BE-SAFE-8(237-2338)

I had to do that with a trial program I downloaded. It interferred with my internet connection, and was generally so annoying I uninstalled it, only to find it wouldn't uninstall, just like this thing. So, call them and pester them until you get an answer about how to get this out of your registry. that's where the files are sticking. Good luck!

If your anti-virus is picking them up but can't remove them try scanning in safe mode that usually get them, the reason you can't delete them is because they're in use on running that's why safe mode.
to enter safe mode reboot before windows starts to load keep pressing the F8 key about once a second until you see the boot menu use the cursor keys to highlight safe mode then press enter once in safe mode do the scan

Restart your computer in safe mode, by tapping the F8 key immediately after turning the power on.
Once started find the files and delete them.

sounds like some spyware was downloaded when you downloaded the program

try downloading Spybot - once you've got that downloaded - run the program - it should be able to get rid of those files for you
