ok so a friend of a friend just called and wants to hang out tonight just me and him and i have never met him before...is this weird or should i give him a shot?

No. How did he get your number in the first place.
How about the two of get to know each other a little first, chat on the phone, online etc. Ask around about him a bit.
Then you can go out together, preferably a public place, with a lot of people and cops, in case you need to scream for help.
He may be actually be a nice guy (and not an axe murderer). A nice guy will understand if you need to know him a bit better first.
These days you can't be too careful.

Have you asked your friend about him? Give him a shot but start with a public place and meet him there. PLEASE!!! Go to a coffeehouse. Have a friend call you at a predestin time and if you're having fun ignore the call, but if you're not, take the call and let it be an emergency

IF YOUR FRIEND (HIS FRIEND TOO) SEEMS TO THINK THAT HE'S AN OKAY KINDA GUY AND NOT A FREAK, THEN I WOULD PROBABLY GIVE HIM A SHOT. BUT I'D DO IT IN A PLACE WHERE YOU ARE COMFORTABLE AND PEOPLE ARE PRESENT. JUST TO BE SAFE.

dont meet him alone cuz he mite be weired! meet him with some friends or at a crowded coffee shop or something, so if hes creepy you can leave or talk to other ppl
