Both camps of the fighters agree on what brand of glove is used and is agreed upon by the states athletic commission. The size of the gloves is determined by the fighters weight, 8oz for fighters under 147, 10oz for fighters heavier.

I used to think that it was the promoter's job to pick on which gloves to use. I thought that whoever was the promoter to win the bidding to promote a fight gets the call on it. Now that Santana and Brent mentioned it, I guess I'd have to go with them. They're my idols. I wan to know about boxing as much as they do.

its in the fight contract... example a big hitter is going to want lighter gloves so when he hits you your face takes more force... where as someone who might have brittle or injured hands would want heaviers gloves for protection bu t they work it out previous...
