.. dont do that NO. humiliation is not discipline.. you will make matters worse not better.. let alone the poor kid will need psychic treatment after wards... if you were the kid would you want this... think to yourself always.. If i had to be punished as a kid what would be sufficient punishment.. i find that writing sentences works great!!!! diaper discipline is child abuse maybe we should place you in a diaper??? WOULD YOU THINK THATS COOL NO PLEASE DONT DO THAT TO YOUR KID.

OMG, I can't believe this is a practice? !!!. At first thought what's this? and then a memory came flooding back to me.....
When I was in kindergarten I didn't want my Mom to leave me at this place,,, it was strange, differently all that!!! Okay it was kindergarten,,,lol but I didn't know that.
When I had my tonsils out Mom was right there in a bed next to the crib I was in so I must have thought she would stay with me at the kindergarten class too...
After my Mom left I started crying and the ladies in this place told me if I didn't "SHUT UP" they would put a diaper on me.
I shut up real fast and I never forgot how mean they were to me. It was a terrible experience. They showed me someone else who was getting diapered and I just shuddered.
I remembered thinking I am not a baby but I am scared.
People don't remember to think about how a child thinks and things are done that shouldn't be done to them. No child needs to be treated with such humiliation.
Information and knowledge that's what opens up any body's mind.

You need to read Ericson's levels of development. It will point out the damage you could inflict by doing this action. Behavior Mod. is not as effective with neg reinforcement. With older children communication is better.

1. have the youth id the problem.
2. have the youth connect the problem to feelings
3. have the youth id the disadvantages of the neg. behavior.
4. have the youth id other solutions to the problem
5.have the youth choose the best solution by discussing advantages and disadvantages.
6.practice the chosen solution.

Repeat is the solution does not work.

When I was fourteen I really acted up and my mom said if act like a baby I'll be treated like a baby.

I had to wear diapers for the weekend. It was so embarrasing - I behaved afterwards so I guess it worked but I don't recommend it.

I think that there is a better way to deal with discipline than a diaper. You don't want to give them a bad complex to remember when they get older. You don't want them to spend a lifetime in therapy do you. Please be careful with what you do you don't want them to turn in to some kind of cereal killer when they get older because of the way they were punished.

I have never heard of it. If it is what someone said, diapering an older child, that is just rediculous. Humiliation is not a form of discipline. Discipline is done with love, humiliation is done out of hate.

Are you referring to someone who puts a diaper on a 9-year-old for childish behavior?

I can't think of a time when that would EVER be appropriate. If someone I knew was doing it, I'd call Child Services.

That would truly demoralize a child and cause their self-esteem to drop dramatically. I admit that I have THREATENED to give my child a bottle or pacifier because they were acting like a baby. This only brought their inappropriate behavior to their attention. I wouldn't have actually done it.

OK I hated changing diapers on my children when they were babies, I sure as heck will NOT do this on a older child! Its a someones sick idea of a new punishment. WTF is wrong with the world today?
