Well, I hesitate to say this, but yes, I think those in the military should receive preferential care. If not for them, the rest of us would not be here to even ask this question. They offer up their lives.. in most cases we do not.. we sit back and wait for them to bring us peace. I have utmost respect for those who go to war, whether they want to or not. They do their jobs and in many cases are horribly injured because of it. Yes, they should be cared for first!

Is a soldier not an ordinary UK Citizen?
Quite rightly the deserve quality medical attention and believe me they do get it(Ex Royal Marine), But every UK citizen is worthy of the best medical treatment this country has to offer.
The armed forces has some of the best Medical staff here in the UK, they also have their fair share of the equipment and some real good rehabilitation centres for injured Personnel.
I can give you first hand evidence as I have broken the opposite legs whilst serving in the Forces and being a civilian, The treatment was exactly the same, as the Military sent me to a civilian hospital to undergo surgery.

Hi mate. This is the life they have chosen, this includes me ,they shouldn't but on the other hand if they are sick or have been injured on duty or overseas then they should be looked after on their return home and not forgotten this is the situation in a lot af cases, not being in the military in the UK,the Irish defence forces have hospitals for soldiers and their families this should be the case for every country.. everybody has a right to medical treatment regardless of their situation .. a soldier has loyalty to his country and the country has a loyalty to all citizens including soldiers..This is my opinion,,others might disagree..Hope this helps...Steve

The treatment given to civvies and military in this country is on a pretty much even basis, the difference is in the type of injuries, during the falklands conflict British medical unit treated not only military but civilian casualties, they also treated Argentine soldiers at the same time and all were treated equally well>

soldiers and ex soldiers should get brilliant medical care, but then again is the care and tecnology is available then everyone should get the best care, especially in a country like thr UK that has a NHS which is funded by every taxpayer. All old soliers should be treated better, especially those who are now old age pensioners and have to suffer on a pittance of a state pension.

The answer has to be No.
All should receive the medical care dependant on their needs, forces personnel may however need different treatment to civilians due to the nature of their ailments, and for security reasons it may be preferable to treat them in a designated military medical facilty, or even a ward set aside purely for Military.

First class medical care should be automatic for all operational military personnel.
The failed NHS that wastes vast sums of money through inefficiency, incompetence and bad management is a separate argument. Until the idea that the NHS exists for the benefit of its employees and long waiting lists means job security can be eradicated there will never be a decent healthcare system for the general public in this country.

I'm not from the UK but I can tell you this: Yes soldiers deserve alot more than ordinary citizens, regardless of what country they are from. They sacrifice everything, sometimes even their lives, for the rest of their country, so I dont think its asking too much for that country to say thanks to those soldiers by giving them whatever they can. I wouldnt say that the medical treatment would be "better" than ordinary citzens, but it should DEFINATELY be free.

The quality of treatment should be identical.
Its easy to let sentimentality creep in on the premise that our soldiers are fine people protecting our country.
However,to favour any group above another is to suggest that any other individual or profession is not equally contributing to the system.
Of course,it appears that no one in this country is provided with the minimum standard we pay for and should expect.
