Mormons are not typically considered to be fundamentalists.
The term "fundamentalism" is typically associated in the US with American Protestantism.
The following definition is one of four from dictionary.com:
fun·da·men·tal·ism /ˌfʌndəˈmɛntlˌɪzəm/ Pronunciation Key - Pronunciation[fuhn-duh-men-tl-iz-uhm]
–noun
1.(sometimes initial capital letter) a movement in American Protestantism that arose in the early part of the 20th century in reaction to modernism and that stresses the infallibility of the Bible not only in matters of faith and morals but also as a literal historical record, holding as essential to Christian faith belief in such doctrines as the creation of the world, the virgin birth, physical resurrection, atonement by the sacrificial death of Christ, and the Second Coming.
2.the beliefs held by those in this movement.
3.strict adherence to any set of basic ideas or principles: the fundamentalism of the extreme conservatives.
The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints do not consider themselves to be a Protestant religion. The following is from Wikipedia:
"Latter-day Saints regard Jesus Christ as the head of their church and count themselves as Christians, but do not consider themselves part of the Catholic, Orthodox, or Protestant traditions. Rather, they believe the church to be the restoration of the original church established by Jesus Christ on Earth."
And, the LDS church is not typically considered to be a cult by mainstream society, although it is considered a fringe christian religion by many other christians.

No. They are New Agers who are FUNDAMENTALISTIC about their NEW AGE Approaches.
Fundamentalists are everywhere. In all sects. Lutherans. Presybterians. Methodists. Baptists.
A FUNDAMENTALIST, for example, thinks the world is 6,000 HUMAN years old.
A FUNDAMENTALIST thinks they are eating Jesus when they eat bread.
They take the religion VERY serioiusly. That is, of course, until they get caught with their own hand in the cookie jar and then they scream things like I'M ONLY HUMAN, THE TEMPATION WAS TOO STRONG.
Amish are VERY fundamentalistic. They used to build without nails, but recently they have become CORRUPT and have cell phones and even a town computer hooked up to the internet. Shame Shame. AND they build with screws and nails now! Must be all those liberal Kids of theirs infecting the religion!
In the Meantime all their teachings about HELL and FIRE AND BRIMSTONE apply to everyone else, but NOT THEM when they get caught in bed with some other man's wife.
Billy Graham, for example, is NOT a fundamentalist.
He preaches on the Baptist forum, but his kids were all Baptized after birth, which is NOT the Baptist way!
Jerry Falwell is a fundamentalist.
He says any COUNTRY that gives lip service to Homosexuals is going to burn in hell's fire.
I guess that means only Islamic Nations will go to heaven under his edicts.

There is not fundamentalist "branch". A fundamentalist believes in the fundamental teachings of the Bible--that's all.
The Mormons believe the Bible is tainted, hence the need for the better--ie Book of Mormon. So no, they are not fundamentalists.
Galatians 1:7-9
...there are some who trouble you and want to pervert the gospel of Christ. But even if we, or an angel [Moroni] from heaven, preach any other gospel [Book of Mormon] to you than what we have preached to you, let him be accursed [condemned to hell]. As we have said before, so now I say again, if anyone preaches any other gospel to you than what you have received, let him be accursed.

Fundamentalist what? They certainly are not fundamentalist Christians. It is my understanding that the RLDS believes themselves to be the fundamentalist offshoot of the Mormons (the LDS). I do not know how the LDS feel about that (since I live in "RLDS central").
Here is the branch of Christianity that is fundamentalist: none.
Denominations tend NOT to be fundamentalists. That is one reason why we had a rise in non-denominational churches. It is also one reason why many fundamentalist churches will tack on "Fundamentalist" in their advertising, but not in their name very often.
A true fundamentalist Christian will be a simple Christian following Jesus Christ's teachings. They might belong to a denominational church, just because that is what is available to them. More than likely, they will find themselves at odds with the church, since most churches today are more concerned with other things than God and what He wants.

It depends on your definition of fundamentalist. If a fundamentalist is one who believes in the Bible literally (i.e., Adam and Eve, Noah, etc.) then yes they are.
Most fundamentalists would say they aren't though. In fact, they'd say they aren't even Christian. Mormons have a different take on Christ thanks to the books Joseph Smith wrote (Book of Mormon, D&C, PoGP).

I wouldn't call them fundamentalist, but maybe purists. They believe they are practicing and following the gospel as was set up and provided by Christ. There are off shoots of the Mormon religion (FLDS) that are fundamentalist in that they practice strictly what was first set forth in the Mormon faith (according to their beliefs). There are numerous other fundamentalist sects that are part of the protestant movement, people who believe the Bible is infalable and is the only truth out there and redemption is found through strict adherence to its words.

The Mormons follow a "different gospel," given to them by an "angel," as prohibited at Galatians 1:6-9. As such, they cannot be considered Christians, let alone Fundamentalists, who follow a literal understanding of the Bible and prohibit the use of extra-Biblical Scripture.
Nowadays, this is determined on a person-by-person basis (instead of on a Denominational basis), since so many churches have adopted liberal doctrines. However, most Southern Baptists tend to be Fundamentalists.

Fundamental is foundational. Salvation through faith in Jesus Christ. That He shed His own blood for the remission of our sins and raised from the dead for our justification.
Also, fundamental is what Peter answered Jesus, "Jesus, you are the promised Messiah, the Son of the Living God.". Jesus told Peter, that Peter is a piece of the Rock. That the Father God is who revealed to Peter who Jesus Is (spirituall enlightened). And on this Massive Rock (confession/ heart faith in Jesus Christ, Son of the Living God) Jesus builds His Church, and the gates of hell will not prevail.
But understanding that one must understand who the promise would be. He would have to fulfill all the Messianic Old Testament prophecies.
Mormons believe Jesus died on the cross & raised from the dead but not that that is sufficient for salvation but that it makes it possible if you do all you can do in the Mormon Church. They don't recognize Jesus as the Word of God. The Messiah is the Word of God from heaven who put on humanity and dwelt among us. (But that we also are spirit babes, etc. and the bad ones are born black) God is the Father, Word & Holy Spirit. And by this God created. Lucifer is an angel God created, who became prideful and lost his wings & fell. Mormons believe Jesus is spirit brothers with Lucifer and both spirit babes of Father God. So, is contrare to Old Testament teachings of who the Messiah will be.
So, Mormon belief is contrare to Holy Bible fundamental elements to the Church of Jesus Christ.
