I have a Sony computer monitor which is only a couple of years old - it came in a bundle with the Vaio that I purchased. Now I see these irritating lines in the corner of the screen going from the bottom to the top. Is my monitor going out? I am really disappointed in this computer - I had better luck with Emachines!

Sometimes its your video card and sometimes its the monitor but what happened to me was same thing. I got a new monitor, plugged it in and bang still the lines!

It was then I realized it was the card I plug the monitor into that was going bad.

A good way to tell is plug another monitor in instead and if you see lines its your card inside. If you don't see lines its your monitor or try this.

Go into control panel then display and mess with the monitor display settings. Since the lines are on the corner of the screen you could possibly eliminate them by setting in control panel and display.

You will need to tell us what kind of monitor it is.

If it is an LCD monitor, then you are probably having issues with the LCD inverter and you will probably need a new monitor.

To be sure, you should test it with a different monitor to see if the lines appear on the other monitor. If not, then it is the monitor itself that is having problems.

If the lines do appear, it is an issue with your video adapter.

Either way, you shoudld take it in to have someone look at it.

Lines are often caused by pressure that is applied to the monitor.
